The classic example of Unlawful Command Influence is the old man signaling his desire about the outcome of a trial and then having his "impartial panel" return his telegraphed, desired result. In short, the old man wants it and we make him happy by giving it to him.
By your definition one's standards are violated and the benefit is the good pleasure of the commanding officer.
