Lucky for whom? Certainly not for the screeners in Las Vegas, who should be out on their asses for this.

The article targets the Marine, not the screeners in Las Vegas. What does that tell you?

Don’t now what the deal is with this guy but the fuses used to be available inert from collector sites : )
Depending on what the deal was with the motors this guy could just be a model rocket enthusiast.
The stuff listed could all be used for model rocket launching.
Unless the engines were converted or loaded to be pipe bombs.

The article targets the Marine, not the screeners in Las Vegas. What does that tell you? I noticed that too. Right out of the MSM playbook. And, let's face it, an awful lot of TSA screeners aren't exactly out of the Norman Rockwell gallery. But the MSM will never criticize that kind of thing.

Hmm. Was this a real Marine, or was it a set up phoney soldier there to make the bulldyke look good?

“three model rocket engines containing an explosive mixture”
These could either be regular engines and the “explosive mixture” was the normal propellant or..it could be they were not familiar with reloadable style motors and assumed it was a bomb/ied modification. Or it could be something else entirely. Will wait for more info.

No way on God’s green earth is a Marine this stupid.

Hmmm....the timing of this (as others have said) is rather peculiar.
In other news, Napalitano announced today we have ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia...
