Now, THAT’s a theory. The Navy never prosecuted because democrats, as well as Republicans, on the hill needed an antiwar “authority.” They never even placed him under oath.

Like their president, Al Hubbard. Nor was he, as he claimed, a pilot or an officer.
So what’s new, Tom Harkin said he was a Vietnam vet, too.
No, in fact I was catching flak from my command about my associations, serious flak, but when the Colonel called me in to lay the law on me I corrected him on the ARs and showed him the current off limits list which he had been mistaken about. In fact after the Kitty Hawk demonstration in 1973 I got a serious CID investigation. If intelligence had more imagination they would have asked for my assistance because if they had undercover agents it would have been very clear where I stood on things and what my purposes were. I get the impression that no one even knew about me and the Nisqually Indians, at least no one in the CID, the FBI may have known.
I think Kerry was in the reserves for at least the first two years he was a member of the VVAW. And I think his discharge papers have never been seen or his discharge date is years later indicating he may have stayed in the reserves for a number of years.
He served a total of four months (and some days) on active duty in Vietnam. Since no one will release either set of his discharge papers, we’ll never know. The first set, all evidence suggests, shows less than an honorable discharge. The second set was issued during the Carter years.
If you’re interested in JFK, go to Wintersoldier.com. It’s taken decades and $millions to unearth what little info there is.
You are correct as I recall. Wintersolder is where the FBI files were located.
What I have read says Lurch was over there for a few weeks with a photographer and a copy of a Hollywood script of JFK's book PT109.
He was building a resume for crying out loud.
He shot an untrained teenager in the back, stubbed his toe, gave himself a medal and flew home to protest against the War with Jane Fonda. He married a A Republican Politician's widow who had inherited zillions and spent the rest of his life telling the world how astute he was as when he picked John Edwards for his Vice President.
Americans had it right when bumper stickers appeared declaring:
“Flush The Johns”.
After the on ship riots there were street demonstrations related to the incident and others like it. The riots in the army were worse.
October 12, 1972
Racial violence breaks out aboard U.S. Navy ships
On this day, racial violence flares aboard U.S. Navy ships. Forty six sailors are injured in a race riot involving more than 100 sailors on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk enroute to her station in the Gulf of Tonkin off Vietnam. The incident broke out when a black sailor was summoned for questioning regarding an altercation that took place during the crew’s liberty in Subic Bay (in the Philippines). The sailor refused to make a statement and he and his friends started a brawl that resulted in sixty sailors being injured during the fighting. Eventually 26 men, all black, were charged with assault and rioting and were ordered to appear before a court-martial in San Diego.
Four days later, a group of about 12 black sailors aboard the USS Hassayampa, a fleet oiler docked at Subic Bay, told ship’s officers that they would not sail with the ship when the ship put to sea. The group demanded the return of money that allegedly had been stolen from the wallet of one of the group. The ship’s leadership failed to act quickly enough to defuse the situation and later that day, a group of seven white sailors were set upon by the group and beaten. It took the arrival of a Marine detachment to restore order. Six black sailors were charged with assault and rioting.
