I can tell you what the main "continuing effect" is without having to study a thing:
The right to interpret the Bible literally without being made fun of by liberals.
It’s a foregone conclusion that reparation payments are the only thing that can eliminate this trauma. We are so screwed.
I know! My wife and daughter are both of Irish descent. Where are their checks?
Tennessee definitely did not have a million slaves in 1860--the total population of the state at that time was about 1.1 million people and it wasn't 90% black. The percentage of slaves in Tennessee was lower than in the Deep South states (the first seven to secede). Only two states, South Carolina and Mississippi, had a black majority in 1860 (in Louisiana the ratio was almost exactly 50-50), and even S.C. had a lot less than 90% of the population as slaves. Slaves were a bit over 1/3 of the population of the Confederacy, but the percentage of white families who owned slaves is generally put quite a bit lower than 1 in 3.
Lincoln in his second inaugural address could only say that slavery was "somehow" the cause of the war...how can anyone prove that a present-day problem is definitely the result of an affliction which ended in 1865, long before anyone alive now was born? Obviously they aren't going to go by any rigorous standards of proof.
The people pushing this must have seen population figures and not have realized that they were figures for the total population. Idiots.
just go to Africa and all the Arab countries...PLENTY of slaves! Still going on today....How do you think they got to the US? Oh, i forgot, Africa is the pure romantic primitive land...Kumbaya and Kwanza!
Ain’t NONE!
We will continue to see this crap for a long time. The dems will not let us ever forget slavery. Egypt has a better time with their past then we do. Slavery produces Knavery and the Dems are riding it as hard as they can!
Standby for a reparations plan for the Blacks that will cost Trillions. Oh, never mind, the dems just passed it!!
Or if those blacks themselves owned slaves. For those of you who didn't know this, there were in fact black slaveowners in the USA.
Is this code for "please send us back to Africa"?
WE??? Is he 400 years old?
Its manifested today when you look in our neighborhood and see teenage pregnancy and murders, and all the other things that affect us.
Before the sixties, these problems were not an issue except for what was considered normal.
The good professor is full of BS
>How do you think they got to the US?
Maybe I could look at the Mexican border with Ir goggles...
Wasn’t the first slave in America owned by gasp,a black man? If I remember correctly it was in colonial Virginia and the slave ran away and he sued in court for his return as chattel property.
Is he asking to go back to Africa?
Being a White American Male, I have suffered my whole life from the affects of slavery. Since my first days in elementary school, the message of the evil slave owners and their mostly well treated workers has been that it’s my fault.
No people on earth of African descent have had life so good as the generations living in the United States. It is the
White folks that have had to hear about it, and pay for it, for 200 years since that are suffering.
"The Man" is responsible for all those pregnant black teenagers?
Then why aren't their babies half-white?
He must be one very busy man.
“African-Americans have been taken out of their culture.”
I suggest instead of reparations, repatriation?
They should be put right back into African culture to remedy this horrible, horrible situation.
SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!
I’m sure they will also investigate the rotten-to-the-core positions on civil rights that plagued the Democrat party.
I’m trying to think like a liberal here. Were you expecting me to make sense?
I saw Barack bow to the King of Saudi Arabia, that brought back traumatic memories about being followed around by menacing packs of Morroccan boys when I lived in Europe.
I am damaged. I want reparations.
