He was rich from real estate investments.
In the bio-pic about them I saw they had the elderly Moe penniless schlepping sandwiches on movie sets.
I would prefer if your information was more accurate.

negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard. Never happen. The man was one of a kind.
(Trivia Question: In what episode were the "classic four" Stooges -- Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp -- all on screen at the same time? )
To: buccaneer81
As a child, I remember watching the old "Office Joe Bolton" shows on WPIX. He'd run Three Stooges shorts, and occasionally have Moe Howard on as a guest.
What's next, remaking the Marx Brothers? Laurel and Hardy?

But! I thought those roles were already taken: Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barak Obama. How can Penn & Cary compete with those three?

What's next, remaking the Marx Brothers? Laurel and Hardy?Probably. That's all Hollyweird can do now is make remakes or sequels. They're not creative enough to provide good, quality new storylines.
I even read on Comcast yesterday where they're going to do a remake of True Grit. Uh, huh...

With Healy's departure, Moe's character assumed the role of the aggressive, take-charge leader of the Three Stooges, short tempered and prone to slapstick violence against the other two stooges. In many ways, this was the antithesis of Moe Howard's true self; he was quiet, loving, and generous to his friends and family. In fact, he was one of those men who had problems showing affection -- instead, he would shower his loved ones with gifts, increasing in quantity and expensiveness over time as his fortunes improved.
He was also foresighted, and invested the money made from his film career very wisely, allowing him to retire in luxury Read more: "Biography of Moe Howard, leader of the Three Stooges | clown ministry | History | Three Stooges" - http://www.clown-ministry.com/index_1.php/articles/biography_of_moe_howard_of_the_three_stooges/#ixzz0Any8DWQY

And why not? Hollywood long ago ran out of ideas, so why not retread something that worked 40 years ago?
Oh, that's it. The Three Stooges were FUNNY.
