Is anyone keeping track of the trial balloons that have been floated and quickly reeled back in recently? Just look at the FR threads of this AM.

Are they trying to throw so much into the air all at once that there is no way all of it can be caught before it hits the ground, or are they truly that incompetent and flailing completely out of control? Maybe both? I am stumped.

On the other hand, every time something draconian/ridiculous hits the wires, it provides the kid with an opportunity to present himself as the voice of reason and pronounce the issue a nonstarter.

O.K. Make that maybe all three? Even more stumped.
