Here in Jackson, we’ve had the “St. Paddy’s Day” Parade. Not much celebrating the Romanized Briton who, after being enslaved by Irish marauders and escaping, returned to Christianize the Emerald Isles.

I had a friend (former now) just complain about St. Patrick's Day being a religious holiday! She was telling me how happy she was that they didn't celebrate Valentine's Day at her son's PUBLIC SCHOOL and instead celebrated friendship day.
As a joke, I told her she must not like St. Patrick's Day either and want it out of the public schools and she agreed!
We don't talk anymore because we disagreed on so much more than that.

The Disney Channel also mentions ‘winter holiday’, but no Christmas.

Next will be demanding Christian Churchs take down their crosses and removing the name “Christian” or “St.....” from their signs so the Christo-phobes won’t be offended.

Or we can change the name to anything we want no matter how insulting and you’ll still vote for us in droves.

Now admittedly St. Patrick’s Day is in celebration of a man who was not named Patrick...who was not Irish...who did not bring Catholicism to Ireland...who did not drive the snakes out of Ireland...and who was not born and did not die on March 17th. But leave the name alone for tradition’s sake if nothing else.
