I'm looking at the Philippines as my Galt's Gulch. Is anyone else out there seeking a sanctuary?

If I worked any less than what I do now, I’d be dead.

I bought the book. Since it is over a 1000 pages, I guess I’ll have to take a week off work (no production) to read it.

Does getting laid off count? Surely I must be contributing way less tax $.
And I have more time for tea parties. Spent 2 hrs. at one today then went over the convention center to stand up for Israel (cair had a fund-raiser there) about 100 of us showed up.

I thought the best bet (albeit not that great) was either Australia or New Zealand.

Australia and New Zealand are socialist states, as I understand it. Can someone give us some more info on those?

Start a small business from home and write off every thing you can. Lots of handy things can be written off as business expenses. If everyone maximized this it would starve the beast!

I'm not leaving the country, just the rat race and the big city. I want to be close enough to watch the festivities as the Democrats learn (again) that tax revenues can go down when tax rates are increased. I'm downsizing, paying off debt, spending less, working a little and playing a lot. I'm self-employed, so I can work at whatever level I desire, especially after living slightly below my means for the last 35 years.
I won't be much of a government mule for Obama.

WEll, isn’t that what all the 60’s commies did? Take the welfare or government teaching jobs & plot revolution? Do you know the way to Galt’s Gulch?

If you remember, ping me to how your stay went.
I have to suck it up for 6 more years before I can do anything cool like that.

Going Galt - great idea.
We all need to do what we can to defeat socialism.

I recently enjoyed reading "Atlas Shrugged" too, for the second time. I purchased the Coles Notes (or CliffsNotes in Canada) which helped highlight the finer points. Also, picked up a copy of Edward Younkins' "Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged: A Philosophical and Literary Companion" (Ashgate, 2007), which is a collection of 36 excellent essays by authors from a broad spectrum of business, education, politics, etc.
I can't say enough about this novel or the study aids I used.
Required reading, or re-reading as case may be!
