The Confederate Airforce had one crash on takeoff a few years back. Their website makes mention of an ongoing restoration effort.
From what I remember it was pilot error...the pilot tried to takeoff with the select switch on the wrong (read: near empty) fuel tank.

Bigger plane than a B-25. The B-24 sure as heck was not pretty.

Memphis Belle and Swoose are both at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, OH. I saw the Memphis Belle some years ago when it was on Mud Island. Is the move to Ohio temporary, or permanent?
