I got my first Pit in 1986, female, 45 pounds. Adopted another the next year, male, 90 pounds.
I did not "socialize" my dogs with other dogs, did not go to your "doggie parks", why?
My neighbor let his Akita run loose, always at my gate, antagonizing my dogs. I told the f### head owner, "I control my dogs, they are not loose, not ever. You keep your POS off of my property or I'm going to open the gate and let my dogs do their thing - protect their property."
Many repeats of this. One day I heard the familiar noise, called my dogs back, the male came back with a nasty bite wound on his nose - he stuck his nose through the gate gap and the Akita bit him......
Enough of this crap....walked out and opened the gate. 75 feet from my gate to the curb of the street. The Akita did not make it to the curb. I picked up the very dead Akita, walked across the street and dumped it on the front door, rang the door bell, "Your dog is dead, I told you to keep it off my property and away from my dogs."
But the dogs have been bred for aggression so it's not unusual for a "good" dog to snap and Pits have so much power that they injure other dogs.
Yes, the dogs were very much bred for aggression - in the pit - against another dog. Do you know that any dog that showed aggression to the handler was immediately shot?
The only breed of dog that any sign of aggression towards a human was selectively bred OUT. They were killed, on the spot.
What the druggies and irresponsible owners of today have done is nothing short of a travesty. It's not the dog, very much the owner.
I had three horrific incidents with my Pit's: 1) A buddy decided to get down on the floor and mess with the female dog.....
She peed on his head.
2) The same dog got vicious with another buddy's 6 month old baby: she stuffed her nose so far into the babie's diaper that the baby fell over backwards.
3)I was a bad boy, stayed out too late and tried to sneak into the house. Got the door opened, got about two steps inside, started to close the door behind be...then I heard the most evil sounding growl - about 10 ft in front of me - oh sh!t....... "Lucky, it's me, it's me boy....Dad's here....".....stealth entry blown...tail wagging, hitting everything is sight, lots of noise....and licking.
I still think of that incident, what if that were not me coming through the door....say hello to my to my 90 lb meat grinder.....
I traveled a lot, gone for 3 - 6 months. The dogs took over.
The female went to the bottom, left side of the bed, closet to the door. The male went to the end of the hallway leading to the bedroom.....line one and line two of defense. No training for that, they just did it.

Now, since we can't separate one from the other according to your claim, they must all be wolves! No one should be allowed to have a wolf as a pet, hence ALL dogs should be prohibited.

Actually, that IS what Bill Koehler taught. You have to show the dog what to do a number of times, and if he doesn’t learn/do it in a week or so (whatever the case may be), he should be corrected. Some dogs are smart and/or compliant, and don’t need corrections (hence why 1 man called the Koehler DOWN “kind and gentle” - which ironically is 1 of the commands often ignored and with toughest correction of the whole set). Many do, unfortunately!

The flaw in your argument between guns and dogs is that you assume law abiding people are going to be responsible with guns. A dog is an animal and doesen’t care who it kills.
Not a bad point. But the fact remains that PBTs are “dog”, and thus, from the OTHER end of it, all dogs could be banned because PBTs are nasty and thus, let’s just cover our bases and ban all dogs.
Honestly I don’t trust PBTs - any of their kind. It is genetic, not simply “environment” BS.
I ALSO don’t trust people and their ability to identify a dog. Too many experts can’t. Unlike inorganic guns, which are items of standard manufacture and can be identified positively, dogs cannot. Not without papers at least and even then, it’s risky because it might not BE that dog or the papers are fraudulent or inadequately overseen (I’ve gotten a fraud of a dog before with AKC purebred “papers”).
Therefore, while in principle alone I don’t like simply banning things, I really am against banning because the Gov. will falsely identify dogs simply from being ignorant. Never mind they will begin to take other dogs away besides alleged “PBTs”.
