Then you charge the out of control animal with the same penalties you’d see in her jurisdiction for a death in the commission of a crime.
She chose to take the car, she chose to sling her shoe, SHE is responsible for what comes of it same as someone who strolls into a bank with a mask and weapon. Would you go feelin’ all sorry for a bank robber who got beaten down too? Since we’re now delving into hypotheticals.
Actions have consequences.
The Scotsman reported that the girl was never formally charged with assault. Yes, this story has gone international.

No, I would not.
Let's say the girl got hold of the deputy's gun in the cell. He would have been justified in his actions to get the gun away from her - even if she were obviously pregnant.
Suppose the girl was obviously pregnant, and events transpired as we saw in the video. Would you still justify the deputy's actions?
Department of Justice investigating sheriff's deputy in jail cell videotape
Mar 3, 2009
The videotape of a King County sheriff's deputy roughing up a 15-year-old girl in a holding cell has caught the attention of the Department of Justice, which "is definitely looking into the matter," according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Harris, who heads the local office's civil-rights division.
Harris said the U.S. Attorney's Office had learned of the incident last month when the Sheriff's Office announces criminal charges had been filed against the deputy. He said the office "just didn't have enough to go on" at that point, but the release Friday of the video from a holding cell changed that.
"It is on our radar now," Harris said. "That was the first time we'd seen in on Friday, and we've had a couple of days to talk about it. We are looking, yes."

I think someone pretty much said that somewhere down the thread.
At any rate, did you see that the feds are looking into it now?
Excellent, may he reap every bit of what he sows.
Thanks for the update.
The one thing I can say is that there will always be SOMEONE to take an opinion, even if it’s wrong. The fact that the vast majority of people don’t defend the cop is what’s important. Not the handful of fascist thugs and authority-worshippers and those who fail to understand the line between a private ass-kicking (which many people need) and an abuse of rights by an agent of the State.
>>> . . . He was shocked, and that’s the term he used, at how he acted toward the person he had stopped the first time he watched the tape. It was a truly eye-opening experience to see himself as others saw him. It changed his entire outlook and demeanor when it came to dealing with the public.
Bless ‘im for seeing the difference and altering his behavior. Pat yourself on the back as well for raising a man of character & integrity.
I wish *all* LEOs could benefit from an experience like that as a part of their training. As a refresher course, perhaps?
The LEOs in my immediate area have issued the most polite infractions I’ve ever earned, so I wish their training would bleed over into the rest of the state. No belittling or intrusive questions, just by the book and-have-a-nice-day.
