The 96 bill did not abolish anchor babies. A child born on U.S. soil, regardless of the status of his parents, is a U.S. citizen. This is why hospitals in California and elsewhere are closing. All that said, the parents can be deported and they can chose to take their anchor babies with them back to their home countries. Under the 96 bill, they can no longer claim a right to stay in the U.S. one the sole basis of the citizenship of their children.
If it weren’t for that stupid law on the books that forbade him from taking his “American” children with him, they wouldn’t be seperated.
What? You say there is no such law? Where’s the problem then?
I was being sarcastic.
Ms. Gonzalez-Garcia try to imagine how little I care. Why should I care, when you did not care enough to make better decisions. Instead, I have sympathy for the American workers your husband displaced.
Rep.Serrano, you cannot believe the wrath which I will have if this legislation passes.
We need to change the law so that any foreign national, here illegaly, passes their nationality on to their child - no matter the mother’s nationality. That kid should not be a citizen because he/she is concieved and born here due to the commission of a felony; one parent being an illegal alien.
Why isn’t the mother deported also? Then, the children can be with them both, at home, in Mexico.
Deport the children too. Why allow a criminal to profit from his wanton behavior?
