I totally understand what you mean by “misapplied.”

Long story short...I was raised in the deep South, and have been very sensitive to the “R” word all of my life. I’m not a racist, and wasn’t raised that way. My parents taught me to judge someone on their character long before Dr. King espoused that sentiment.

Before Christmas, 2007, a young, nice looking black man came to our door selling magazine subscriptions. My husband said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” and the guy went off on him, calling him a racist over and over.

That night it clicked...the “R” word is nothing but a weapon they use to intimidate, to further their goals. That was the night I decided that the “R” word means nothing anymore, and I refuse to be intimidated by it’s use.

I haven’t looked to see if it’s been posted here, but Matthew May at American Thinker has a good article posted today.

Anytime one of them calls me a racist, I repeat at least parts of the content of that link. They realize the bigotry of what they're saying very quickly. The line about "B.E.T." is a good one. I've got friends from all cultures and races, and one in particular is a very good friend of mine. He's a black guy. He went on a huge rant one day about other black people practicing racism and then all ignorantly huddling together and feeling justified. It was the first time I had ever heard a black person speak like this, but he had a point! Another good friend of mine is a primary Mandarin Chinese language speaker. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's in business administration and he's one of the greatest people I know to hang around with. He's my team lead where I work, but "some" people under him had issues with him being selected as team lead and the only issues they had were those of ignorance and prejudice. He was made team lead anyway and I'm glad they did! He's one of the best people I know and he garners a high degree of respect from everybody he works with! But we had some ignorant, prejudicial people who had issue with him.

Racism by itself is bad. That can't be disputed. When it's overt, it can be identified and exposed. But when minorities reverse it and then trick themselves into thinking they're not, it's worse because they're not only practicing racism, they're subversively perpetuating it!

There you have it...all in one neat little nutshell.

I hope there comes a day when they realize just what their leaders are doing.

While smarting from the slap, Clyburn needs a (figurative) swift kick to his butt, kicks to his shins, a hammer-fist blow to the top of his head while his ears and nose are yanked and twisted Three Stooges style.
