The US History AP class is a standardized curriculum dictated by the College Board test.
Amazingly, it is actual US History. My son was surprised that, for the first time, he did not have to endure the usual victimology sequence—indians to slaves to immigrants to Japanese interment to civil rights, with nothing else in between.
He will tell you that it was the best course he took in 12 years.
The kids are trying to figure out how they will pay for this spending spree. It'll take them the next 45 years to pay off this thing.
“Dobson High School Advanced Placement government class with strong opinions about Barack Obama”
Change in class teacher and curriculum in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....
As of 2005 when my daughter took it, and as of 1972 when I took the AP American History exam, passing the course was irrelevant to college credits. You had to take a nationally graded exam, and depending on the college they would give you one semester's course credit if you scored a 5 or sometimes a 4. But you couldn't get credits in your major - my daughter's 5s in Biology and Chemistry were all for naught, because she's a Bio major and can't use them. She did get to use her 5 in Calculus though. I couldn't use my 5 in American History either (daughter got a 4 - she takes after her dad the scientist - and her school doesn't give credit for 4s!).
If you don't take the AP course seriously, you won't get a 5 or the credits! (maybe the students like the teacher?)
My girlfriend’s kid told his mom a joke he learned at school yesterday:
What is the difference between Simba and Obama?
One is an African Lion, the other is a Lyin’ African.
I laughed.
I’m glad to hear that it still that way, even though I’m not far removed from high school.
If kids were offered classes that were based on fact and lessons were taught in the spirit of fair-mindedness, (most)students would be much more willing to learn and would come out far more educated. It’s sad that your son and I, with my experience, had to wait so long to get a class like that.
My senior year was when 9/11 happened...very interesting year needless to say. The AP American history class changed after that year because the teacher was generally liberal and a pacifist since he was a Brethren Christian. After 9/11, you could tell he wasn’t the same...didn’t know what he believed any more. The class really was hurt by that.
Especially in a very conservative district.
Unlike the teachers or the principal, the school board has to answer to the voters.
In the interest of charity (and also to document that you made the complaint), I would send the principal a letter first, reciting the facts of your earlier verbal complaint and explaining in nice neutral terms why this politicking on school property is wrong . . . .
Seriously, he probably was pretty depressed because his world-view was shattered. That would be bound to affect his teaching.
This is the best “education” story I have read in many months. Bravo to those kids. I wish them the very best and hope they also become teachers.
He did eventually, but his worldview was shattered and it took a long time to recover. He was a great teacher, but that drastically changed things.
There is not in all America a more dangerous trait than the deification of mere smartness unaccompanied by any sense of moral responsibility.

I’m surprised the students have not yet been rounded up by Obama Youth and sent to a “re-education camp.” Heaven forbid that someone might have an objection to the Chosen One.
Seems like the Democrats were able to just blow it off. But it sounds like your teacher is a moral and honorable man.
I have a hard time seeing a rational justification for pacifism. It can only flourish where other people do your dirty work for you.
Sounds like the school my kids went to, but it was a private school run by mostly Baptists, Bob Jones University grads.
Sorry, “8” was typo. Workin’ and lurkin’ ain’t mixin’!
I was thinking of the total credits that I recieved my senior (and 1 class while I was junior) year from my multiple AP courses, not just the history class. And I was able to use my AP English credits towards my major, but that may be policy of the college I attended.
LOL!
I passed that on!
Out of the mouths of babes...there is hope for America.
They keep this up and AG Holder and Greg Craig may send over their JackBoot Thugs.
