Looks nothing like Phelps & News of the World is the UK’s answer to the National Enquirer, end of scandal.
And this is news? President of the United States admits to smoking marijuana so if it okay for him why not everyone? Have you ever seen a picture of that joint Obama had?
Gee whiz folks get a grip.:)
BFD. Is this worse than the tax shenanigans of Geithner and Daschle, whose careers are unharmed?
Young and dumb...
Maybe we weren’t all that way but I was...
No wonder he can eat so much. He’s got the munchies. smoking pot? big deal.
This is a very odd picture. There is no smoke in the pipe. Was the pipe even lit?
Since Phelps collected more gold than the government in 2008, I say his private life is his own business.
Are you insane???
Wow, Caroline Pal is hot! Good for Michael!!
2. Who cares if it is. I'd rather be around someone who is high than someone who is drunk.
Yes, I am on of those conservatives who think pot should be legal.
I thought the IOC only bans performance-enhancing drugs.
When are we going to realize that our country and its businesses do not have the funds for drug testing any longer. GeeWhiz(no pun intended), just think that when these tests are no longer required(and under Obama, I think they will be going away)we actually may have some smart people working in places like banks, department stores, etc). Not Wal-mart stupid anymore, hey I got a job at Walmart and I can’t spell America but I did pass a drug test. Has anyone noticed over the years that once the drug testing phase began, industries suddenly were filled with some low rent people and ignorant to boot??? Was the testing the correlation between the two???
If the answer to both questions is yes, why then Mr.Phelps could be POTUS.
Not Guilty! And congratulations to a long and illustrious career.
“Dude, you’re getting a Dell”
Dude, you’re career is over.
big whoop
what a dip weed...
he had it all... drunk driving in maryland, dope smoking in england... when he is caught banging heads with with that diver we’ll have the tri - faqta...
that is a Q...
teeman
They only ban performance-enhancing drugs. LOL!
See: Phelps acknowledges photo using pot pipe:
"I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment," Phelps said in the statement released by one of his agents. "I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."
Phelps was part of a group of elite athletes who agreed to take part in a pilot testing program designed to increase the accuracy of doping tests. His spot in the program could be at risk, said Travis Tygart, head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
...
"For one of the Olympics' biggest heroes it's disappointing, and we'll evaluate whether he remains in that program," Tygart said. "But some good education comes from this because he's going to suffer some penalties."
Marijuana is viewed differently from performance-enhancing drugs, according to David Howman, executive director of the World Anti-Doping Agency. An athlete is subject to WADA sanctions only for a positive test that occurs during competition periods.
"We don't have any jurisdiction," Howman said. "It's not banned out of competition. It's only if you test positive in competition."
Never understood longterm endorsements for swimmers, who compete on the big stage only once every four years. In a year or so most people will forget who Michael Phelps is. Seems to me their earning power window is very short, compared to major athetles in sports that regularly compete.
Otoh, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, etc. have a chance to show their sports prowess (when they're not injured) on a regular basis -- their faces and names are always in the news for their accomplishments. For them, huge endorsement deals make sense.
