Everything planetary beyond Mars, has huge percentage quantities of methane in their atmospheres, and are cold.
Methane is “25 times more potent than CO^2” as a greenhouse gas.
It is not their distance from the sun that makes them cold, but being cold “proves” that the ‘Greenhouse Gas Theory’ is wrong.
Makes just as much sense.
If Al Gore would quit emitting CO2 this world would be a better place.
To hear Algore tell it, Venus isn’t a very nice place at all.
Oddly, one day it could be one of the loveliest and most interesting places to live or visit. And that could be in just a few years or decades from now.
You see, most of us would not be comfortable in equatorial jungles here, but at the right altitude along some mountain ranges, the climate is very pleasant. I think that’s where the coffee plants live.
Anyway, Venus is like that too. Except there aren’t any mountains high enough to get you to the elevation where the temperature is comfortable. Venus is covered with an ocean of carbon dioxide.
Now if you had a boat which could travel on that ocean, you’d see what I mean.
Of course a boat wouldn’t do it. You’d need a balloon. Like the Wizard of Oz’s balloon. His was a hot air balloon. Hot air is lighter than regular air, so it lifts a balloon up.
Well, guess what? Regular air is lighter than carbon dioxide, so a balloon filled with oxygen and nitrogen would keep you afloat in Venus’ ocean of carbon dioxide. It has half the lifting power of helium here.
Now you need to hang some potted plants around to scavenge up any carbon dioxide that might leak in, or to grow some tomatoes or such.
In fact, you’d need a whole city, so you’d better make your balloon fairly big while you’re at it.
So there you are, green plants to make oxygen, which keeps you floating around at an altitude of proper temperature and pressure. Plenty of energy, (solar energy, of course!), to operate whatever industry you might devise. I’m favoring the making of carbon fiber products myself.
Of course, the really in-demand product would be something like cellophane for the balloons. (You do have to consider the chemistry of the atmosphere, after all.)
Venus could be a lovely place.
As a well known wag recently posted, "In the older neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. the tap lines off the mains in the street which run into the houses are gemerally made of lead."
"Just in case some were wondering why some D.C. residents seema little dull."
