The disease of judicial supremacy, infecting the highest ivory towers of "conservatism."
By the way, these quotes are in the Deace interview at the link I posted back up the thread.
Judging by that quote, I don’t think Mr. Babbin understands either the concept of Citizen Sovereignty/consent of the goverened—or the Constitutional balance of powers.
If he doesn’t understand by now, he ain’t never gonna get it.

If so, you're off the hook.

Conservatives Challenge National Review: ‘Come Clean on Romney!’
“A magazine that conservatives grew up with has legitimized a charlatan who trashed a constitution. As a (conservative and) an opponent of judicial tyranny, Romney is a fraud.”
(July 12, 2007) Twenty-two conservative activist leaders have publicly released a letter challenging the conservative magazine National Review’s “puff work” for presidential candidate Mitt Romney and implying that the magazine is quietly abandoning the social conservative grassroots and constitutionalism. The letter was sent to National Review on June 1, 1007. The editors refuse even to acknowledge receipt of the letter, which cites information about which they’ve misled their readers, most strikingly:
* Romney’s stance and record after his “awakening” are not pro-life.
* The Massachusetts Constitution says the people are bound only by laws ratified by the legislature; and only the legislature can suspend or alter laws. Blaming judges who admit they cannot create laws and have no authority over the legislature or governor, Romney unconstitutionally ordered officials to act as if judges legalized homosexual marriage.
John Haskins of the Parents’ Rights Coalition notes NR’s glaring refusal to face the implications of a devastating article (May, 2004, National Review) by a leading legal scholar, illuminating why fawning, pro-establishment attorneys such as Jay Sekulow, radio lawyer Hugh Hewitt, and (an NR pro-Romney blogger) David French have facilitated Romney’s unconstitutional actions:
“The deeper failure must go to the man who stood as governor, holding the levers of the executive. And if it is countdown for marriage...it is countdown also for Mitt Romney, whose political demise may be measured along the scale of moves he could have taken and the record of his receding, step by step... [I]t became clear that even conservative lawyers had come to incorporate, and accept, the premises that gave to the courts a position of supremacy in our constitutional schemes.”

This means we can't attack them. Criticize them yes, withhold support and run primary opponents sure, but no name calling and avoid burning bridges.
This also means we have to actively and vocally support them at times. If we don't they can safely ignore us and marginalize us.
And while there are some things we cannot compromise on -- i.e. the Constitution -- there are other things we can and should.
Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.-- Ronald Reagan.
Romney, McCain, Snowe, Specter & Graham (to name a few) do nothing but water down Conservatism.
I won’t support any of them ever.
No problem there. I’m no longer a Republican.
By the way, that quote is the last refuge of a RINO.
14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
- II Corinthians Chapter 6 verses 14-18
So besides driving away everyone not in perfect agreement with you -- which apparently includes Ann Coulter and David Limbaugh -- what's your plan for the conservative agenda?
Start from scratch. Beginning with the reestablishment of the core principles these folks seem to have totally forgotten. If that isn’t our plumb line, one that is adhered to diligently, this free republic cannot be saved.
Now are you saying McCain is the unbeliever or Romney? And if it's Romney are we kicking out all Mormons? How about the Jews? Do Mark Levin and Dennis Prager get the boot? David Horowitz?
Those are your words, not mine. I said that this eleventh commandment thing is the last refuge of the RINO.
Ronald Reagan was such an effective RINO hunter that he very nearly took down a sitting RINO Republican President in a primary.
Several of them do. But it has nothing to do with their religious beliefs. It has to do with the fact that they’re either out and out liberals, or completely compromised when it comes to enforcing America’s core principles in our political system.
If you try to do everything at once you are surrendering the Republic.
