Rove will will rip this moron [Conyers] to shreds, chew him up and spit back nails.

No doubt. But it's also the kind of performance that would likely land him in jail, under contempt of Congress charges.

We're now officially operating in a right is wrong and wrong is right political atmosphere.

Rove -- and every member of the Bush administration -- should be very careful.

Rove, in his best voice *singing* , “I can’t remember, my brain’s in a blender, it’s Jell-O!!”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) has subpoenaed Karl Rove, the former top political advisor to President George W. Bush, to question what Rove knows about “politicization” of the Justice Department.

Wonder what he'll say when his boss fires Patrick Fitzgerald.

absolutely agree with you.

Sigh. So few Americans really get it. I am truly discouraged.

I disagree. Legislative investigations have been extremely important in discovering and publicizing the truth; examples include the work of the House Unamerican Activities Committee and the work of Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, both during the 1950s.

In fact, because Mr. Rove is subject to Executive Privilege, he is exempt from legislative supoena or criminal or civil prosecution for any acts he committed while a member of the Bush Administration. The same exemption applies to Pres. Bush, VP Cheney and all other members of the Bush Administration, which is why all this talk of trials for war crimes or any other crimes is so silly.

It might be even more interesting if he answered a question with a question.

What legal authority does a congressman have in commanding a person, whether private or employed by the gov’t, to appear before a congressional committee? What happens if Rove just tells Conyers to go pound salt?

“...to question what Rove knows about “politicization” of the Justice Department..”

Rove to Conyers:

“I know that Bill Clinton replaced 93 Federal Prosecutors in 1993, some of whom were investigating his White Water scandals.”
“Since you didn’t seem to object to that, I’m sure you have no problem with President Bush replacing only 8, or are you suggesting motives are only “political” when Republicans do it?”

I was once subpoenaed by my State House of Representatives.

I just told them "No, thanks".

Rove will probably tell Conyers to go pound sand, but I'd love to see him go before congress (lower case on purpose). It would do Col. North proud.

“I genuinely believe we are in the early days of an attempt by the Left to overturn our Constitutional form of government.”

I agree. First overlooking the birth certificate issue, next the Fairness Doctrine, all of these bailouts, socialized medicine will soon follow.....Elite and arrogant Dems and a lunatic in the white house....I have an overwhelming fear that we will be have a complete socialist form of government in my lifetime.

Yeah, this tactic was applied against the Kentucky Guv Ernie Fletcher(R). There was an “ethics law” passed requiring hiring by “merit”. Then the Governor was indicted for hiring based on “political considerations”. I thought this was jaw-droppingly outrageous, but it was reported with a straight face. This was in the courts, not the legislature, and it went on for years. In the end all charges were dismissed by some high court on condition that Fletcher eat 300 pounds of uncooked crow, but he was politically damaged and lost the election to a Democrat, who it goes without saying would never ever let a political thought within 10 feet of his brain when contemplating the sacred duty entrusted to him of hiring political cronies.
