Thanks - a picture is worth a thousand words.
It’s better pounding the table, saying “She’s a liberal! Why are you calling this liberal Democrat a ‘conservative’?!?”
They should have kicked NY City out of NY Sate when they had the chance. Upstate could be considered a Red State.
Freepers that live in the area. Please push a true conservative to run for this seat. Actively interact with the local Republican committee to get a conservative nominee. Any Freepers in the district that would get involved by running for the seat? We have 2 built in issues based on her support from the NRA and her vote against the bailout. A conservative running for this seat would have a good chance by taking over these 2 issues.
The name sounds like a punchline.
“There are more unicorns in America than pro-life women Democrat politicians. Aint no such animal.”
Didn’t hurt Obama.
Really? Let's compare some of the major issues:
Both Rudy and Kristen are pro baby killing.
Both Rudy and Kristen are in favor of gay marriage.
Rudy is in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens; Kristen is against amnesty.
Rudy was in favor of the Wall Street bailout; Kristen voted against the bailout.
Rudy grabs guns, hates the NRA, and doesn't understand the 2nd Amendent; Kristen shoots guns, earned the NRA's highest rating in Congress, and has a deep and personal appreciation for the 2nd Amendment.
Don't misunderstand where I am coming from: Gillibrand is a Democrat. But given the super liberals that Paterson could have appointed, I am please that he appointed someone who is a moderate democrat by New York standards and more conservative than many in our own party here in New York.
“Really? “
Yes really. Notably none of Rudy’s conservative economic program is mentioned by you. You pick and choose a few items, but forget that Gillibrand’s 100% NARAL and 80% gay rights ratings and 100% ACLU rating are paired with doctinaire tax-and-spend Democrat positions vs Rudy’s supplyside tax rate cutting and free market positions; and she was anti-patriot act anti-Iraq-war etc. all the ‘progressive’ positions on national security. She will close gitmo while Rudy would defeat terrorists. So a whole swath of issues you neglect in the comparison. What you got is a down the line liberal Democrat who is not an exteme gungrabber - yawn.
“Kristen voted against the bailout.” - So did a bunch of other liberals. But she voted to bust the budget by passing the Democrat spending bills, including the SCHIP expansion. Will Gillibrand vote to bankrupt this nation by passing the Democrat $800 billion stimulus bill? Is the Pope Catholic?
“Gillibrand is a Democrat. “ She is a liberal Democrat. Gillibrand panders to stay in a conservative district, but got an ACU rating of 8%. Her voting record is as liberal as Hillary Clinton’s.
All you get out of this is a younger and less annoying version of Hillary.
All I am saying is dont get fooled by the marketing. It’s sad indeed to see freepers use the phrase “moderate democrat by New York standards” which is meaningless since it is once again an oxymoron. The only Democrats today are liberals - Obama is a liberal and any Democrat following him is a liberal too.
“I think the closest thing to a pro-life female Democrat politician is Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), who votes pro-life about half the time”
Half the time. If such a woman were a Republican, she’d be called a ‘liberal’ or ‘socialist’ RINO. There is a freeper double standard - we cut Democrats who are squishy on issues a LOT MORE SLACK than we cut Republicans.
I didn’t say that Kaptur was a pro-life female Democrat politician, I said that she was “the closest thing” to one because she votes pro-life half the time. She votes more pro-life than your average RINO, but given that she’s pretty much a socialist her overall voting record is far to the left of every RINO in Congress.
Kaptur’s pro-life votes are weird, though, because it’s not that she generally votes pro-abortion but will support the ban on partial-birth abortion or the human-cloning ban, or that she generally votes pro-life but goes over to the dark side on votes for funding embryonic stem-cell research, but that Kaptur will vote with the pro-aborts in favor of abortion in military facilities and against the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, but votes with the true pro-lifers against funding for embryonic stem-cell research and in favor of maintaining the Mexico City policy.
Check out her voting record:
