ROFL...I missed that...
Thank you, Caroline!
Nice. That'll get McCarthy out of the House and hopefully a Republican can get the seat back. (Times have changed, so it isn't a slamdunk.)
Headline from NY Post ....not mine....
I guess the author of the article considered her conservative relative to the Left Wing...but she is still a Democrat .....true.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend”?
I don’t think so.
My guess is that will be dropped when she no longer
has to represent the Congressional District.
Is the MSM going to call her a Maverick?
Like Senator Lieberman in the neighboring state of Connecticut, she is right on ONE subject (and I understand that the NRA thing may have been an election ploy).
She is a screaming leftist on everything else.
True, but compared to a downstate Liberal/Commie she's bearable, and not that far left of many upstate RINO’s. I would say she's not as far out there as Chuckie Cheeze Schumer, but she's no conservative. She got the seat in 06’ in a pretty conservative district, because the incumbent idiot Sweeney mishandled allegations of a domestic disturbance; made an ass of himself and blew a 10 point lead in the final 2 weeks. She did get re-elected against a known upstate GOP,but 2008 wasn't a good year for them here in the People's Republic of NY. With her going to the Senate, the GOP has very good chance of re-capturing the seat in 2010. I don't see any local Dims able to run as strong as she did in that district.
I think old John Mc would not like that if they did..he thinks he is the only Maverick areound..LOL!
Are you from that area...?
Where is Columbia county ...and Hudson?
Where is Columbia county ...and Hudson?
Yes. But I don't live in Gillibrand’s district, which is pretty Conservative. I live in a district next to hers, which is solid Rat. Columbia county is near Albany. Hudson itself is about 1/2 hour south of Albany.
LOL!
A conservative Democrat.
The decision was a major rebuff to some of the state's best-known Democrats interested in Clinton's seat, including Attorney General and former federal Housing Secretary Andrew Cuomo, for whom Gillibrand once worked as a junior lawyer; Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, and Reps. Carolyn Maloney of Manhattan and Steve Israel of Suffolk County.
She's no doubt a placeholder and will be strenuously opposed in the 2010 primary, it still is fun to see Dems angered by themselves.
Her father, Doug Rutnik, is a well-connected Statehouse lob byist with close ties to Republicans, including ex-Gov. George Pataki, former Sen. Al D'Amato and state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno.
“She is not a conservative and will gladly push the REID-line.”
I was going to say that ‘conservative’ and “Democrat” together is now an oxymoron.
For example, is this for the largest big-spending boondoggle bill in american history, that will saddle us with a $2 trillion deficit this year? You know that big monstrosity the Democrats are calling a ‘stimulus’ (it only stimulates big Govt)?
Then she’s a tax-and-spend liberal Democrat, but just less moon-batty and loony than the other liberals for not being anti-gun.
It’s a trifecta - get a candidate the liberals squawk over, shut out Andrew Coumo, and have a better shot for a win by good man Peter King (Rep, Long Island, running for US Senate).
oh, and one less Kennedy to worry about. AND, that Gillibrand House seat - it might be winnable. I think the new York Republicans should be relieved.
or Cuomo as well.
