Please use this thread to post your favorite moments from the past eight years. Photos from today will be scattered throughout the thread.
Personally, it has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the daily dose. I never expected eight years ago that this thread would become what it is today. Thank you to all who have lived here, and to those who have helped continue the daily posting of this thread.
:) rintense
Brava!
T Y!
Thank you President Bush. God bless you. You are ‘my’ president.
Mrs. Bush, may God bless you.
Words just can’t express the pride we have for you.
I knew on 9-11 that my son would go to war. Knowing that a good, decent man would be his Commander in Chief was reassuring. He is proud to have served under you, sir.
Thank you President and Mrs. Bush for all you have done for our country. I do not doubt that there is much we will never know. May God bless and keep you safe always.
Wonderfully written lead-off post.
rintense, I THANK YOU for starting this wonderful thread. It has been a source of comfort, knowledge, inspiration and friendship. I’ve been honored to ‘meet’ so many patriotic, wonderful people. It was good to know we could come here and share our support and feelings for President and Mrs. Bush. And, the terrific pictures( MANY of which I saved) and links truly helped us to ‘live’ a day in the life of President Bush.
I will be eternally grateful to you, rintense, and to all the other dedicated people who worked hard to bring the Daily Dose to the rest of us. Each and every one of you have a special place in my heart.......just like President Bush.
With every President, we hear the phrase 'history will be the judge of a President's true success.' Those of us who have been supporters of George Walker Bush for the past eight years know what it takes to be make history. And we know, years from now, the man with a spine of steel who wears his heart on his sleeve, will truly be historic.
It is so hard to see this day. I was so glad to find these threads so many years ago. As my life has gotten busier, I have had less time to look and post, but have always appreciated being able to check in when I could.
Rintense, Thank you for starting this and carrying on for so long. To all the others who took so much time to dig up pictures and post this thread, thank you, too. I will miss the thread almost as much as I will miss the President.
Love you, W!
Don’t know how you captured so many special moments some days but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this man in action. He’s so deserving of R & R and I am glad he is safe in Texas. He kept us safe! God bless President Bush, Laura and their family.
Rintense! Get one more photo for us.... the day W and Laura see their first grandchild.
Thanks for the inspiration to start this thread those several years ago, and for all of the hope, joy, and reassurance it has given to us throughout the years.
There were certain regulars on the thread, but I can assure you that countless thousands knew that if on any particular day they needed a boost, they could visit the Daily Dose and get the comfort, encouragement, and resolve they needed to continue the fight.
Well done.
For those who are interested, I have quite a few DitL threads bookmarked, particularly right after 9-11.
HI Rin! I just thought I’d stop by to say hi and thanks for doing this thread for all these years. What a sad day this is for me in so many ways. Gosh I can’t believe it’s been almost 8 years since this thread started!!!!! Where did all the time go?
It’s been wonderful having this man as our leader. I will very much miss him in the White House.
Thank you, rintense, for starting the Dose. I’m so very meloncholy this evening. I’ll truly miss our W. A Patriot, a President who said what he meant, and stuck to it. We knew what he meant, and didn’t need any pundit to interpret his words.
May God continue to bless him and Laura, and all his family.
And to George Walker Bush: I’m a 9/11 Mom. You kept my family safe. For that alone, you are my hero President.
By virtue of my son-in-law, we are a military (Navy) family. You, President Bush, respected and loved these families, and never took their service for granted. They trusted you, because they knew you would never put them in harms way for any purpose that wasn’t in the best interest of our country.
I honor you, I respect you, and I love you, for your great service to our blessed country. Listening to your remarks this evening upon returning to Texas, I can say that you never did tire, you didn’t falter, and you didn’t fail. You did, indeed, keep us safe.
Thank you for your steadfast devotion to our country. May you, and Laura, and all your family, retire in the knowledge that you certainly did do your best to honor your oath to “preserve and protect the constitution of the United States of America, so help you God”.
Thanks for posting this rintense. A lot of the success of this thread is because of you.
I’ve lurked here for years, and even though I never posted, I ALWAYS APPRECIATED THIS ONGOING THREAD.
Bless you for keeping it alive. When W thanked America for praying for him today, I thought immediately of this thread. I’ll betcha he felt the love and support emanating from this very thread over the years. How could HE NOT?
Yes, I think so. I haven't felt like this since I got out of the Army in 1992. I was in from '88 to '92, I saw the end of the Cold War and lived through the Gulf War. I felt as though I'd seen a world historical epoch come to an end. I feel like I'm living through a similar type of end today, but without the feelings of hope for the immediate future that I had back then.
Although I was keenly disappointed in President Bush at times (I'm still smarting a little from the immigration/amnesty business), I can't imagine anyone else serving as President of our beloved country for the last 8 years. We will only know the full extent of GWB's efforts to protect us in future years. Now it is only decent to acknowledge them and be thankful.
It really is the end of an era. I think the post-WW II configuration of conservatism is over--"Gone with the Wind," as the saying goes. Many of the "old lions" left us this year (William F Buckley, Paul Weyrich, et al.). Someday we'll read about passing of Phyllis Schlafly and Margaret Thatcher. We've had a great run. Nonetheless, a new conservatism will arise. I am apprehensive about the near future, but I believe we are an amazingly resilient people in the long run. Dubya represents the last of a certain type of American, but there will be new ones who embody the old values in future times.
May God bless our beloved United States, its people, and George W. Bush. Thanks to be to God that he was our President during the last eight years!
From a foreign citizen speaking for many more: THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!!
God bless President Bush. He took the heat and I think that history will be kind to him.
I miss Pres. Bush already. It got to the point that I was reminding myself that yesterday was just the start of a four-year countdown.
