She’s a moron. Doesn’t care about other 13 yr old girls and their potential predators.
Um, since when is “justice” merely a balm for victims? Isn’t it also an effort to do what is RIGHT and to serve punishment to the guilty despite what the victim thinks at any given time?
Think she’s been paid off?
There's only so much you can do if the victim no longer wants to cooperate with the prosectuion. OTOH, if they have her prior depositions, her further cooperation might not matter that much.
He admitted to the crime, what more does a journalist want?
Paid off is a likely scenario in this case.....
LOL! Of course!
He pled guilty. The victims wishes could be taken into consideration when sentencing but her cooperation is no longer necessary as his guilt has already been determined.
Case dismissed?
Wait a minute -
he’s already pled guilty.
Isn’t Polanski already convicted? It wouldn’t be up to her.
And if she could do this, couldn’t the family of a murder victim allow the murderer to go free if they wanted (or were paid off enough)?
It's not, of course. It's one debt that a government owes all its citizens, blindly.
I judge by the other responses they could probably say it better. She (rightly) sought the government's just role in obtaining justice; now she wants to change the govt's definition of justice, which isn't for her to do.
She thinks, apparently, because gov't served her once, it's at her beckon call.
The victim's prescense is no longer needed, the pervert has already been found guilty.
I was raped when I was 12. If I had to relive the event because of the court system, I would be angry too. But I would be angry at the rapist that kept this an ongoing issue for his personal comfort.
Jail him.
While this is true, for you people to be so callus towards the feelings of the victim seems cruel. First victimized by Polanski, then victimized, for 31 years, by self righteous know it alls who refuse to let her live her life in peace. I don't blame her for wanting to forget this and get on with her life.
