What about carbon dioxide? Are they solving a non-existent problem?

The problem with carbon dioxide absolutely exists. The concentration increases every time a spectator exhales. We either have to hold the hockey games with no spectators (and no players), or we have to kill all the people in the name of Saving The Planet™.

Hear, Hear!

Give the man a prize! He has found the logical conclusion of the Carbon Footprint argument.

"They position this new development against the carbon voodoo that is the popular mantra."

Look again. This isn't about AGW. This is about carbon MONOXIDE in a relatively enclosed area.

As part of Obama's full employment plan, all ice resurfacing machines will be outlawed and ice rinks will have to be resurfaced by dozens of people with ice scrapers and spray bottles of water. < /almost sarcasm>

Obviously, the spectators, officials and players will have to wear special carbon recovery masks.
see picture below.

I suppose they will all then stand next to a spectator and
harangue them for a tip? Sigh, at least then the big media will say unemployment is down...

So, one Zamboni indoors is dangerous? What happens to people at monster truck rallies?

In Eagle River, (AK) we called that “hot mopping”. No money for a Zamboni-flood the rink with hot water, mop it around and let it freeze. All outside, of course. Nothing like a bit of pick-up hockey on a frosty morning, biut for some reason the skin guys didn’t enjoy the game as much as the shirt guys did.

We must go further than that. Only when we have wiped out all life on Earth, from the largest mega-carbon emitting elephants and whales, down to the almost insignificantly tiny mycoplasma and bacteria, will we be certain of having removed the major contributor of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Of course, there are still natural carbon dioxide emitters, like volcanoes. Hmm... Maybe we should just explode the entire planet, and, that way, put an end to evil carbon dioxide forever.

HOCKEY PING!

A local rink had a problem with their Zamboni, and several people got sick from fumes related to the zam malfunction.

They’ve since switched to electic.

Didn’t you read Peanuts?

(Snoopy had a Zamboni for resurfacing Woodstock’s birdbath.)

Not good enough. My science officer informs me that the atmospheres of both Venus and Mars are rich in carbon dioxide. In fact the atmosphere of Venus is virtually all carbon dioxide. So before we go, we have to blow up a couple more planets.

I don't think we know how to do that yet. We may have to wait until we perfect the Death Star.

Since the IceCat is twice the price, but electric, I'm surprised if Zamboni couldn't follow suit with an electric version to compete with the IceCat. I hope they're not suffering a case of GM-itis.
I'm surprised they don't just come up with a technology called "the extension cord" and replace the batteries and half the cost of the machine.

Has anybody ever died in a hockey arena from Zamboni poisoning?

Damifino. I'm from South Louisiana---Zamboni's (and hockey) were relatively unknown when I was growing up.
