They just disgraced and dishonored the lives of those aboard Flight 93. Those aboard Flight 93 were willing to fight against terrorists, yet, their families have just become tyrants.

seize the land needed for a memorial

Not much land is needed for a memorial. How many "acres" does the Viet Nam Memorial sit on? Here they are talking about seizing 2,200 privately-owned acres for a *national park*. That is preposterous! A memorial could be erected on just a few acres of land to memorialize the spot.

Evidently the owner has been negotiating but what the families are asking for is over the top.

I say kill the deal. The dead are heroes and legends in their own time. That should be enough. Their memorial will be the written and spoken word on their deeds. The families are pains in the ass with no claim to this land.

I don't think the land grab should happen.

However if this disputed land is where the crash actually happened, I do believe the owners should be required to allow at least the Families of the fallen to visit the site when they wish. Figuring nothing bigger then a Phone Book was discovered at the site, this is pretty much the graves of the hero's of flight 93.

If the crash site is not on this land, then they should just deal with it. Find some other way to make it work or offer a price the owner wont refuse.

However the demonetization of by some here of the families of the Flight 93 Victims is truly revolting. These people are acting out of grief for their family members and are trying to build something lasting so that the actions of their loved ones will not be forgotten. It is the Government who will be at fault if this goes through. They are supposed to be the ones who act reasonably and without favor to either party.

They want to SEIZE property to build a memorial for the most patriotic of all Americans? Don’t they see how wrong that is?

How about buying up ten acres for the visitor’s center and buying up development rights for the surrounding farms. That way there is a memorial and the remainder of the space maintains the same character, at minimal cost to the taxpayer.

The homeowner needs more than 200 acres for his home?

Yes, of course. To each according to his needs.

No, we mustn’t have a makeshift, heartfelt memorial. There's no obligatory exhibits on slavery and the Holocaust. No handicapped parking or ramps. No exhibits in 35 different languages. Heck, they might even allow smoking in Shanksville!

/sarc

I'm sick of these pagan state-glorifying monstrosities uglying up The Mall, etc. But, I would like to see the Feds build two more memorials - Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Well Said. TO what value are the placing on the lives lost? If they have to SEIZE the land (as in take what is not theirs) (Oh isn't that what the Terrorists did in the lives that were lost?)

Is this all that “they” have learned.

“All”?

“All”?

“rich selves”?

Your comment does not reflect well on your character.

Yes, it is Ironic to steal a person’s land to build a monument to people that gave their lives for others.

While they are at it, they need to build a monument to the Long Lost Right to Own Property.

We don’t call folks with 200+ acres mere “homeowners” ~ that’s a compound if I ever heard of one.

To seize private land is wrong. Not to say that our gov’t won’t do it anyway.

Interesting rant.

Accusing all of the families of Flight 93 of being venal and mercenary is hardly a fair comment and, based upon your profane response it is clear you have personal issues that torment you.

Have a nice day.
