Why would they, the relatives, not negotiate a purchase of the land? Bad sh!t happens ... that doesn’t excuse engaging in legal theft to set up monuments to it.

Using this logic, couldn’t the WTC and Pentagon be siezed as well?

Why on earth do these people need to use so much land? Is it just because theyre stealing it from somebody else?Because, as a nation, we turned the dead into something bigger that we are. The idea that they can't find a memorial somewhere or make a smaller, more humble memorial is beyond their reason. They think nothing short of three square miles is fitting to commemorate those we raised to such a high status.

The people on that plane chose to die free with liberty, I hope the govmint don’t disgrace them by taking someone else’s freedom to own property and liberty in tribute.

The land under the WTC and Pentagon is ALREADY owned by the Government!

Umm, 2200 acres? wtf
are there not much better use’s for that amount of land?
I think 10 acres would be large enough.

like they did to make the Great Smokey Mtns national park?
My people were marched out of Tennessee on the Trail of Tears by our wonderful goobermint.
Reparations?
40 acres and a mule?
I want that entire state given back to the rightful owners, the Cherokee Nation
If the goobermint wants to seize something, I've got something they can seize right here!

The designers modified the crescent in the memorial. But it is still there in trees surrounding it. Disgusting. An entire new design is needed.
As far as the property goes, give the owners what they want. It would be peanuts compared to how this gvt spends.

Relatives of those who died aboard United Airlines Flight 93 want the Bush Administration to seize the land needed for a memorial where the plane crashed in Shanksville, Pa., in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Shame on them!
To: trumandogz
The county wanted 100 acres of our land to build an airport. They traded us another 100 acres for it. I can understand these people wanting a memorial but the land owner should not be forced to comply. I wonder if they have tried anything else to make the deal work?
