when the government tries to kill off a trade that is valuable to both parties, unsavory characters invariably create a black market

So all trade is good, when two parties find it valuable? I guess that's why slave labor is making a comeback.

WTF does that even mean? The very definition of slave labor is labor where the party doing the work did not consent (and presumably does not find the "trade" valuable to him).

I'm not sure where this is making a comeback, BTW, but I doubt it's in a country that really values individual rights and the free market.

an illicit global kidney-transplant ring

I thought that was based in Las Vegas? I read an article once of people waking up in their hotel bathtubs to find they had been drugged and someone had stolen their kidneys.......

You can trade in organs you can trade in humans. Slavery has come back to the US, it is part and parcel of “free trade”.

Oh and BTW, Mr. Bush said yesterday that the free market had to be put aside to save our economy. Just an FYI to where all this is leading.

It is if the economic policies of the country are at fault for much of the poverty. India was third world in 2009, now the United States is looking 3rd word, with homeless by the thousands under bridges in red cities and inflation out of control due to government spending.
People are selling plasma. They are selling their blood for $20 gift cards to places they usually cannot afford to shop at.

The problem is, there is no free market in the US, there is too much government for a truly free market, and without a free market there is extreme bias in who determines who will be the haves and the have nots. The worst decisions will be made by the virtue signalling do-gooders, because no one will police them.
