I think Valerie Jarrett removing her name from consideration was a bluff. From the phone calls, it seems (and this is just reading between the lines) that the Obama team was open to the idea of appointing Blago as head of the “Change to Win” (SEIU) group, but it would have to wait 2 years so Obama’s fingerprints wouldn’t be on the appointment. Valerie Jarrett was part of that arrangement.

When Blago balked at that because he wanted something right away, not in two years because of financial needs, Jarrett’s name was withdrawn. The message was sent to Blago - take it or leave it. It was a bluff, IMO.

In subsequent days, Blago was back in touch and wanting to talk to Jarrett and RE about another option, the immediate creation of a 501(c)(4) with money from Obama’s rich patrons. That’s where the Fitz complaint stops on Nov. 13, event though the wiretaps continued for 3 more weeks with stuff not included in the current complaint.

That’s all just my take. What went on is subject to many interpretations because it was all such doublespeak and innuendo.
