Obama: Workers staging sit-in 'absolutely right' (Obama supports breaking the law)

I think the employer started this one by breaking the law, first.

I think all these "labor laws" are unconstitutional, and I support economic freedom between consenting adults.

In this case, though, you're sticking up for BoA taking a $25 billion bailout and THEN defying existing pay/benefits law.

This is a bad case to defend "management rights".

According to federal law, a factory shut down requires 60 days notice. And if that notice is not given then the workers get 60 days severence. They are entitled to some money but I’ll be damned if I can see what holding the factory is going to do to get them to cough it up.

They’re right to be angry but they’re wrong to stage the sit in. After all the company broke the law too so they created the situation to begin with.

What’s potentially wrong with the workers above?

Should not have voted stupidly?

Upset that they have a little over a month to blame Bush?

Afraid that unemployment comp will be bogged down so much that they will get evicted?

For those that voted against the F”O”ol, I sympathize, for those that voted for “O” suffer, suffer badly.

The money given to the bailout was for lenders to loan to credit worthy companies. Apparently this company is not credit worthy.
Obama was elected to uphold the laws of this land, not condone breaking the law. We have courts that are designed to work these issues out.

They were fired last week and told to leave. For them to return against the companies wishes is a violation of law.

Obama is a “Constitutional Lawyer” and he can certainly advise them, free of charge, to go to court but he should not encourage them to knowingly break the law just because he thinks they are owed money. Maybe they were given a 60 days notice but that's for the courts to determine.

Any worker can ask for benefits they think are owed them. It's a completely different matter when they stage an illegal sit in and occupy someone's property by force. The Marxist Obama thinks he is Lenin. This happens to be America, not 1917 Russia. We all knew Obama's Brown Shirts will start their Hitler Youth tactics sooner or later..but at least we expected them to wait till he's taken over the reigns of power first.

One of the factory's workers, Silvia Mazon, said in Spanish that she needs the money owed to her for an $1,800 monthly house payment. The 40-year-old from Cicero said she has enough money saved to survive for one month.

She better get her butt off that floor and find a new job if she wants to make that next payment. Shame on the UEW and "Outlaw Obama" for giving her false hope when she has bills to pay.

Obama, like other "Community Organizers" assumes that the adversary (usually evil white men) has unlimited resources and cash, and is just being greedy. The situation may be a little more complex. The company may be going out of business, thus a loss of jobs for all.

The so called "trickle down" economy is necessary in free enterprise; unless the government takes over all industry and determines the pay scales for management and labor. Productivity and managerial efficiency become less important than pay and benefits for labor. We then become a country like Cuba or Kenya, but the "Community Organizers" will be happy.

Are you kidding me? So why doesn't the factory stay "open" with one employee, while everyone else is "furloughed?"

That may appear like someone's trying to weasel the law, but the law is a weasel, written for a going concern that shuts down an inefficient plant to move production to a more efficient plant. It's tough on the workers at the less efficient plant, but the alternative is GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

The U.S. is looking more and more like France everyday, but without the wine, cheese, and Paris.

Obama told a news conference Sunday that Republic Windows and Doors should follow through on its commitments to the 200 workers, who say they won't leave the plant until they are assured they'll receive their severance and vacation pay.

The turnip has no blood - they'll get nothing, or close to it.

Everyone seems to blame the employer for shutting down, without proper notice. Let’s not forget who the REAL culprit is - Bank of America. They would not let him pay the workers because sales went down, and the loan must be paid first.
