US soldiers are banned from consuming it completely. No booze, no porn - what were we fighting for?

Germans think beer is food.
BTW, for those with wheat intolerance, barley and rye have the same type of gluten that causes the problem so no beer either ~

It would not surprise me that in true spirit of coalition interoperability, the Germans are taking one (or several) for their U.S. counterparts who of course would never violate General Order 1 in CENTCOM and drink any alcohol. /eye roll

With the Guard in the Vietnam era, our Supply and Transport Company (of an Infantry Support Battalion) left for Annual Training with a forty foot transport trailer loaded to the roof with cases of assorted brands of Barley Pop.
We set up our NCO club and some of the other companies in our battallion with less “logistical foresight” helped consume the strategic reserves.
We ran out and had to go for resupply with four days left to endure of the summer of ‘73.

Sarge, if you believe our boys don’t spend a little cash buying booze from the Germans, we were in a different Army.

Well I'm sure even the left can finally agree that the war is going good for some people.

The German Supreme Court ruled a few years back, it is illegal to prohibit bier to workers at “brotzeit” (morning snack) or at lunch.

>>3,600 German troops in Afghanistan as part of Nato’s ISA operation are each drinking around 490 pints or beer
Sounds like a lot but assuming a TourofDuty of a year and a 4 months, that’s approximately one pint a day.
