Congress warned: ‘Beware of CAIR’
Takes cue after FBI cuts off Muslim group for terror ties

Warning: Do not meet with representatives of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a “Dear Colleague” letter sent yesterday to every U.S. House member says.

The three-page letter, a copy of which was obtained by WND, warns legislators to “think twice” about meeting with CAIR officials due to mounting evidence the group is tied to terrorists.

FBI officials have been canceling planned outreach events with CAIR chapters across the country, following a recent directive by FBI headquarters to sever ties with the group.

“The FBI has cut ties with them,” the congressional letter says. “There are indications that this group has connections to Hamas,” the Palestinian terrorist group.

The letter, written under the bold-faced title, “BEWARE OF CAIR,” was signed by Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., co-chair of the Anti-Terrorism Caucus; Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich.; Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; Paul Broun, R-Ga.; and John Shadegg, R-Ariz.

CAIR, which claims to be a “moderate” voice for Muslim-Americans, declined comment.....

Al Qaeda holding Europeans taken in Mali - military

BAMAKO, Jan 29 (Reuters) - A North African branch of al Qaeda is most likely holding four European tourists kidnapped in northeastern Mali last week, a senior Malian military source involved in the investigation told Reuters on Thursday.

Malian officials initially blamed Tuareg rebels for abducting the two Swiss nationals, one German and one Briton near Mali’s border with Niger last Thursday.

Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, formerly known as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), was the most likely group to be holding the Europeans, the source said....

Father Zakaria Botros on CAIR’s radar

It’s not enough that al-Qaeda has called Fr Zakaria Botros “one of the most wanted infidels in the world,” issuing a 60 million dollar bounty on his head, or that popular Arabic magazines call him “Islam’s public enemy #1”; now, as expected, CAIR is getting in on the action, calling for a “national alert” — as in umma alert, eerily reminiscent of a fatwa — against him. Apparently his last few shows dealing with Muhammad’s questionable sexual habits, including necrophilia — which I translated here, here, and here — are irking CAIR, specifically as his words are “embraced by a number of bloggers and Web sites that criticize Islam.”

This ones leaves me uneasy. The FBI and these lawmakers didn't just fall off a turnip truck. They've know all along and especially law enforcement has known all along that these people have an agenda.

IMO, something's up and a few are in CYA mode.

Suspicious package found at Port Everglades
1/31/09

BROWARD COUNTY, FL--Port Everglades was closed to vessel traffic as investigators inspected a suspicious package at a terminal for nearly two hours today. A K-9 unit detected something suspicious in luggage of a passenger who was boarding a ship around 4:30 p.m.

The terminal had to be evacuated and vessels, including several cruise ships were unable to dock. The package contained electronics that caused the dog to be alarmed.

HazMat team, Bomb Squad respond to radioactive metal at Baseline (Florida)
Monday, February 2, 2009

OCALA - A Marion County Fire Rescue hazardous materials team responded to radioactively contaminated metal at the Baseline Landfill Monday morning. The Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad also was on scene.

Fire Rescue spokeswoman Heather Danenhower said metal containing trace amounts of radiation was brought via a roll off truck from Davis Recycling in Ocklawaha to Ocala Recycling in a very large recycling box. An alarm went off at the Ocala Recycling Center when the radiation was detected.

The materials, still unloaded on the truck, were taken to the landfill and authorities were called. Danenhower said Davis Recycling was closed temporarily as HazMat officials checked for other possible radiation at the facility. Danenhower said the situation at the landfill posed no danger to the public.

Saudi issues wanted list of 83 militants overseas

Saudi Arabia on Monday issued a list of 83 wanted militants based overseas and called on them to turn themselves in to authorities and "return to a normal life," adding that Interpol had been asked to arrest them.

Saudi television read the names and showed photographs of the wanted men, all Saudis except for two Yemenis, who it said had "adopted the straying ideology", a reference to al-Qaeda. The announcement followed a move last month by al-Qaeda's wing in neighbouring Yemen to name two Saudis released from the US military prison camp in Guantanamo as commanders.

New Militant Group in Ain el-Hilweh Reportedly Plans to Target Egyptian Embassy

A new Palestinian militant group whose members have been trained to carry out rocket-launching and bombing operations was reportedly formed in the southern refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh to carry out among others an attack on the Egyptian embassy.

Al-Balad daily reported on Sunday that a Palestinian named Jamal Hamad formed the organization, which he named "Jihad movement for the victory of Gaza" with the assistance of Ghandi Sahmarani, a Lebanese wanted from the authorities on several terrorist charges. The newspaper said several militants from Jund al-Sham and Osbat al-Ansar have joined the new group.

The militants have received training in camps in the Central and Western Bekaa Valley from "foreign experts" brought in under the cover of upgrading fighting capabilities against Israel, according to al-Balad.
