Yes, I remember. Ahh, but it isn't "politically correct" to speak of such crimes. Nor is it politically correct to speak of the crime statistics in terms of ethnicity. And since nothing is ever done, and the matter cannot even be discussed openly, it will get worse. I have no children, and I rejoice in that. He’s of the wrong race to be charged with a hate crime.

On the other hand, if testimony indicates that she called him an unflattering name while he was killing her, she could be charged with misdemeanor incitement, aggravated by hate-crime provisions.

In some countries, I think her estate could be sued in civil court, or in Canadian-style "human rights courts".
