““Native people find it offensive when they see a non-native person dressed up and playing Indian”

I find it offensive when a non-native person dresses up playing European.

And here I was about to give them the benefit of the doubt. The Native part of the Plantation is a working "Indian" village, just as the Pilgrim side is a working settler village. The difference is that the actors in the Pilgrim village respond as if it were 1625 while the Native staff responds modern day.

Had they said, "look, we don't want to confuse the visitors with the staff and if she wore the costume it would introduce an element of confusion for the other guests" then I'd understand it. But they didn't, they gave out that "mocking" excuse.

Indians call themselves Indians and have no problem with that term.

The same's true here in upstate New York, but bear in mind that this woman is a liberal Massachusetts Indian Native American indigenous woman person.

“Native people find it offensive when they see a non-native person dressed up and playing Indian. It’s perceived as us being made fun of,” Coombs told CNSNews.com.

Oh, STFU, you pompous, overly sensitive ass! Mom should have said, “No”, and gone on in with her daughter.

This isn’t education.

This is political correctness in the form of cultural elitism running amok once again.

Minorities demand the world ignore facts and historical traditions and percieve their cultures only as they want to be percieved.

And foolish people comply.

Natives weren’t always just peaceful casino managers and importers of Chinese manufactured “authentic” native American jewelry and souveniers.

I want to know when those ‘Nativists’ are shamed for their shabby treatment of our nation’s first immigrants—off of the Mayflower!

Well the Indians ought to just put on sports jackets, dockers and golf shirts and mock us white guys.

That'll fix us!

“Native People” is not accurately correct either as they crossed the land bridge from Russia to Alaska, then migrated south, “First Immigrants” would be the most precise term to use. The Pilgrims would then be the “Second Immigrants. Now that makes for a nice Thanksgiving story. The Second Immigrants and the First Immigrants sharing a harvest meal of Thanksgiving:)

I have a little thought experiment. What if we took the PC Multi-cultists at their word. They want to eliminate indian-named sports teams. They want squaw-named mountains and valleys renamed. They want depictions of indians eliminated.

What would happen, if we erased all names related to indians and indian languages in this country? What would happen, if all depictions of indians were eliminated in this country.

It would take two minutes, then the Multi-cultists would claim that we were trying to erase the existence of indians in North America, like they never existed.

Multi-cultists are neurotic, self-hating misfits, who should be excluded from any contact with pupils and students for safety and psychological stability of these kids.

How did she know the girl wasn’t an Indian? My kids are part Indian, but you’d never know it by looking at them.

I’ve been there. They have the standard liberal version of the first Thanksgiving in their video clips that they show.

Exactly. If they don’t like a white American child dressing up as an Indian, then get some real ones. Make it authentic.
