Other Indians fear that official federal recognition of the Abenaki will result in them receiving smaller payments from the US government. That's why they created the BS story that "squaw", the Abenaki word for "woman" (and a feminine grammatical part of speech in all Iroquoian languages), meant "whore".
The university crowd did very little research into that matter and ran pall-mall down hill into the swamps of abject ignorance.
Same thing here ~ they've decided "Caucasian" means "white", and that's really, really difficult to 'splain to the folks from the Bangalore Coast!
I wonder how they feel about sickle cell anemia? That is a pretty small population segment as potential sufferers.

Cystic fibrosis is indeed more common in caucasians, but it is by no means limited to caucasians. It has a prevalence of about 1 in 3,000 in whites in the U.S. However, it also has a prevalence of about 1 in 13,000 in Hispanics and 1 in 15,000 in African-Americans. This is not due solely to racial mixing, as cases of CF have been reported in black Africans with absolutely no caucasian heritage. CF in non-white populations may actually be under-recognized, for two reasons. One is that the genetic analysis that tests for the most frequently-seen mutations causing the disease can only test a couple dozen of hundreds of possible mutations, and the most common mutations that it tests for are more prevalent in whites with the disease than non-whites (the mutations do seem to be ethnicity-specific). Secondly, there are misinformed individuals (many physicians included), that think non-whites cannot have CF and so do not refer a patient with symptoms that may be due to to the disease for testing because they are not white. I have had patients with CF who are black, Hispanic, and from the Middle East.
Simply put, people who want to complain that CF is not “diverse” and state that it affects only whites are fools.
The resulting estimate of incidence relative to live births among whites is 1:3419 while that among non-whites is 1:12,163. As a by-product of the modelling approach, estimates of the underlying average diagnosis age given survival to diagnosis are 4.09 years for whites and 4.55 years for non-whites, but this difference was not statistically significant and appears to demonstrate that diagnosis efforts may be approximately the same for whites and non-whites. Also, as another by-product of the modelling approach, CF mortality was estimated as more severe for females than males and marginally more severe for non-whites than whites.
