"Import-export trade will be suspended. So if you like something tasty that is imported, lay in a large supply now. (Think COFFEE and CHOCOLATE)."

Funny you say that...I've chosen coffee as my barter medium and have loads on hand.
If anyone is going to store coffee, buy the coffee in metal cans, it will last (and stay fresher) a lot longer than the plastic cans.

I guess I'll get some chocolate too now that you've reminded me.

Good post. And a good idea. Here's one more of a more radical nature:

Repeal the Pendleton Act (1882) the protects all the drones now working for the Federal Government. In one fell swoop the next President could fire thousands of useless people now eating away at our substance ( to borrow a phrase from the Declaration of Independence)

....Before this secular Bear Market is over, we are going to new lows in all indices, more than 3500 banks will close, unemployment will surge, there will be violence in the streets and people will kill you to get what you have. Every one of the 17 macro factors detailed in The Big Rollover is converging and coming to fruition. Sorry—but this is what we see in the future....

I guess we don't have to worry about Global Warming too much anymore... < /sarcasm >

If I had only written a Doom and Gloom book I could be respected and rich

I seal it in plastic (I have high humidity here) and keep it cool and dry...ahem, same as ammo.
I have three old (and ugly/rusty) refigerators in my shed that I keep the temp just above freezing on them.

A little drama never hurt anyone! I didn’t like Red Dawn when I first saw it, but I’ve come around and it is one of those appropos movies for our time. Ugh, I can’t imagine actual re-education camps, it seems so surreal, so for the time being I’m going to focus on the hope part.

“..how much anger there is in the country over it.”

I am starting to understand what caused the French revolution and its subsequent horrors.
