IF the people have no jobs and there is no drilling and added production - that “golden” egg will soon disappear.
Betwen high taxes, greenie lawsuits and the dropping price of oil, the Sara miricle will soon evaporatet. I have a bet with a friend that she asks for an income tax before her first erm is out. That is one bet I will be happy to lose,
I will admit it IS possible for Alaska to survive on tourism, but with a population of 1/3 of present - or less.
NO oil means no local production of motor and jet fuel. If it has to be imported from the L48, then almost nobody would be able to afford to live here.
I don’t worry about me, and my children may be able to get by - but my fear is that the grandkids will wind up living either in abject poverty or in the L48.
The ref to Hugo was to indicate how high the tax rate has become. And with much of that Alaskan oil refined in CA, you pay 100% of that tax, so from all of us to all of you - thanks!
