Fasten thy seatbelts:

"The opinion pages have strong conservative voices; the editorial board includes centrists and conservatives; and there were editorials critical of Obama. Yet opinion was still weighted toward Obama. It's not hard to see why conservatives feel disrespected.

Are there ways to tackle this? More conservatives in newsrooms and rigorous editing would be two. The first is not easy: Editors hire not on the basis of beliefs but on talent in reporting, photography and editing, and hiring is at a standstill because of the economy. But newspapers have hired more minorities and women, so it can be done."

Oh, great: now the USA needs an affirmative action like effort just to let "conservatives" into America's MSM.

Listen: conservatives don't expect nor even want to be included in your mess. We read and/or view the MSM just to keep track of our enemies.

God Bless what is bound to be years of resistance by the true conservative movement: we are as foreign to liberals as the current crop of "immigrants" they embrace.

It pains me to see lost subscribers and revenue

... However, it does not "pain me" enough to do anything about it, at least not in terms of balancing the coverage, or of restraining the promotion of a certain left-wing agenda. Consequently, I can expect subscribers to continue to leave, and revenues to continue to dwindle until I'm forced to give up my elitist position as (self-assumed) arbiter or public values and get a real job. And THAT is what REALLY scares me! How will I afford expensive cocktail parties and trips all over the world if I'm working the cosmetics counter at JC Penney?

Gave up two subscriptions, one to the WSJ and one to my local paper. I will not give my money to the enemy.

It is not journalists duty to "change the world". It is the journalists/reporters job to present the news: who, what, when, where, why and how.

If journalists want to become crusaders, let them found a movement and not do it through the organs of news dissemination.

Barack Obama's more effective campaign

She means the one where the major media outlets were working for Obama for free, right?

Rosenstiel said, "There should be more intellectual diversity among journalists. More conservatives in newsrooms will bring about better journalism.

In a related story, Rosenstiel stated the sun should be coming up in the East...

See thread covering Ms. Howell's story last week, 09 NOV 08, where she admits there was An Obama Tilt In Campaign Coverage.

How one can report as "news" what is self-evident to us is ... remarkable.

We all should download Howell's articles from this week and last; save those articles; and use them in upcoming elections.
