Take THAT all you conservatives who stayed home or voted third party.
I keep hearing this but unfortunately I was away during the election and missed quite a bit of posts. What proof do we have that the election was lost because conservatives stayed home? From what I have read turnout was similar to 2004.

McCain received 8 million less votes from conservative voters that voted for GW in 2004.

Turnout was less than in 2004 for Republicans. McCain got less votes than bush in 2004 by a few million. Some of those 2004 Bush voters went over to 0bama, but many of them stayed home.

Well, about 90% of the cheerleaders here at F.R. were saying that we were going to win.
I laughed, but I still went and stayed on line for an hour and a half to vote for the pathetic old schmoo McCain and the Republicans.
I think it's time to start refocusing on the party itself that got clobbered so badly.

I was one of the “cheerleaders” I did really think we were going to win.
And it wasn't that much of a clobbering, all things considered (that being the mood of the nation, the media worship of 0bama, and the historic nature of his candidacy, and the fact that McCain was and is a legislatively confused old man).

Wouldn’t that require two more Supreme Court justices?

The socialists increased their lead in the House, have at least 57 Senators, and could quite conceivably end up with 59 by the time the counting, recounting, and re-recounting is all said and done.
In other words, they're almost within an eyelash of having total absolute power over the federal government, especially once Obama starts appointing his Supreme Court justices.
The Republicans have absolutely no margin of error at all for the next election. We need to start drawing up a serious battle plan to avoid another catastrophe, or it might be too late.

McCain engineered his(and our ) defeat with the McCain-Feingold bill and all his reaching across the aisle.By helping stop the Republicans from using the power when they had some,he insured they soon would have much less.
