While there were things to disagree on during his administration

I think in 2 years we are going to wish that Bush was still in office.

...even though many Americans at time did not deserve that safety."

See the second poster for a decent example.

he did keep America safe, even though many Americans at time did not deserve that safety.

What makes you judge and jury over which Americans deserve to be kept safe?......

President Bush may be you hero but like all of us he has fallicies. As a leader he did what he thought proper and correct when the decisions were made but that doesn’t make him infallible. That said I still prefer President Bush by large margins over the alternatives of the time, VP Gore or Senator Kerry.

I have often seen “newbies” treated with contempt on this forum and I think it’s over-the-top, knee-jerk to assume that a newbie is a troll.

I’ve been on this forum for over 6 years, having changed my screen name a couple of years ago, with the Ad Min’s permission.

Before that I lurked.

If I had posted a vanity thread, would it automatically make me suspect if I just happened to be a “newbie”?

I hope this forum doesn’t stoop to the ways and style of the DU and the HuffPost.

As for Bush-—whatever one may think of him at this hour, history will take care of in due time.

There were many variables at work in the Republican losses this time around that didn’t have “Bush’s fault” stamped on them.

You mean maybe Mr. President, like the word “vigilantes”?

A man of profound thought

You've got to be kidding.

Clearly, the man has never had an original or profound thought in his life.

Dubya spent eight years doing his owners' bidding. In the process, he's left the country in the biggest mess of my lifetime.

He's left the GOP in shambles.

Dear Mr. President Bush,

Salt the earth as you depart, thank you for keeping terrorism away from our homeland after 9/11.

Thanks for your welcome to Free Republic - even if it is offered as derogatory. I’ve been lurking this site for a long time - but decided to get more involved and applied for an account..

I suppose that makes my opinion worth less than yours?

Man up. You can be a better person than this.

Sorry for the late response - but I wanted to say you were right. That did not come out quite like i meant.

My point was that he protected the nation, even while some in the nation were very vocal in rejecting his protection. He put the country first, not politics, and did what had to be done. To me there is a lot to be admired there.

I agree and only hope that the next President will do the same and not play politics. Have a nice evening.
