This is the USA. Anyone can accomplish whatever they set out to. Moving isn't on the "Labors of Hercules" list.

Relocating is the tradition of the productive in America. We traversed an unknown ocean to get here. The Conestoga wagon with its carriage of those endeavoring to escape a life devoid of luxury is an American icon.

In VT the Governor runs against a Democrat, Green, Socialist, Communist. It splits the vote and the Republican can win. My in-laws were born there and left. They still have family there. They are part of the conservative side of the state.

By the way...were you aware that Bernie Sanders was elected Mayor of Burlington in 1981 by TEN VOTES? If eleven more had voted for his opponent; he might have been dispatched back to NY, and who knows where he would be now?

Your right if one want to abdicate their responsibility to an aging family member and leave them to fend for themselves.

Sorry, my name is not Obama and won't throw them under da bus for my own selfish interest!!!!

Yes I remember. This was right after the State Legislature had voted to give out of state students the "right" to vote in local elections.

And Burlington, being a big college town, with lots of students, was how The Socialist, managed to get elected.

Always welcome at the AR Inn. We will leave a light on for you and chill a beverage of your choice.

We should have completed the move, if all goes well by June 2009.

Actually have been to Vermont, skied there, drove thru it to Montreal a few times, and bought stuff there...but not too much stuff as there isn’t anything there really.

Just said “vermont is a rotten state” because it is from a song, whose title I can not think of right now.

Okay.. stay in VT and look for sympathy. You're obstacles are unique and insurmountable, obviously. Have a cigar and a drink.

I was not aware of that significant tidbit...thanks!

I believe that Litchfield County here in Connecticut was still slightly red in the Presidential election this year.

Look on the bright side - Vermont still (for now) has the best gun laws in the entire country, don't they?

My husband grew up in New England and says that there are more cows than people in Vermont. It must be the cows who are tipping the balance.

I suggest having a nice steak dinner.

Every night.

Yeah, I was thinking that when I saw a graphic on TV (partial
vote result) and it said Douglas got 41 per cent,
Dem Gaye Symington 21 per cent, and some independent
candidate 21 per cent. But the BFP site said Douglas
did get past 50 per cent when all/most votes counted (as I may have said, in VT
the Legislature would have to choose the gov if the
vote leader didn’t get above 50%)

*************************
Litchfield was the most purple of all CT counties.
My Lord, look at Berkshire County in MA - 75%-uugh...

This is an interesting county interactive graph - for the country

I spent a week in the White Mountains last summer.
Talk about Peaceful!!
Burlington and Lake Champlain are Beautiful.
The moonbats actually added to the experience overall.
Of course i’m from outside Boston so I’m sort of used to them.
Unless I jump on a plane it’s hard to get away from it.

And yet, in Vermont the ownership of firearms is virtually unrestricted and unregulated. Go figure. Wonder how long that’ll last...

Back in the Eighties this state used to be a GOP lock. Now look at it.

In 1962 Phil Hoff was elected governor of Vermont. He was the first democrat to be elected to ANY statewide office. That's how dominant the GOP used to be here. Then we got the hippies and the farmers got welfare (oops, I mean the dairy compact) and now it's over.
