If the GOP doesn’t come out fighting tooth and nail now, if they continue to be the spineless wimps they have become - I will personally, kiss the party goodbye. I’m trying to look at positive things today & plan for my future, like it or not - we all have to do that. I’ll be doing certain things very differently now & I think once the shock and grief have worn off - we should start a thread of things we need to do to cope with this new administration/dictatorship.

If it means that a new party will rise from the ashes of the “big tent” - so be it. I hope Sarah Palin will be with us for the fight. I was proud to see the south standing up for itself last night - if things get as bad as I fear they could - maybe talk about secession won’t sound so nutty.

I prayed about this election more than I ever have & I am comforted that the outcome was the Lord’s will for us. He has divine knowledge and will not abandon us. Sometimes it IS darkest before the dawn. We will do what we have to do, when we have to do it. Don’t give up hope - the real battle has just begun!

Secession? Hell - the rest of the nation left us.

Consider that the vast majority of voters voted on raw emotion (anger) and were swept up by chants of “change”- many do otnrelaize what they voted for.

And I wonder how long it will be before they realize, that unlike prior generations who fell for demagogues, there's no one to come liberate them from what they DID vote for.

The Republicans are dead. The leaders are a bunch of jerks who can’t get it together and run around with their skirts over their heads. They haven’t done much good lately. Sad very sad.

I am determined to keep a positive outlook no matter what happens. Think of the upside. Rush, Hannity, and Savage will be on fire for the next 4 years. We can watch the utter disappointment of the crumbsnatchers as they wake up to the realization that they still have their mortgage, their bad credit scores, their ugly girlfriend. We can watch the utter disappointment of the socialists when they realize that they cannot change the large-living dinosaurs inside the beltway who have installed themselves for life at our expense. We can watch the utter disappointment of the bamboozled youth vote when Obama does not end school or put pot machines on every corner. We can watch the utter disappointment of "the world" as Obama is quite unable to repair it, best intentions aside.

As our taxes inevitably go up and healthcare goes down, as our military gets shelved and our welfare checks (tax credits) go out, as vague shining promises of Hope and Change turn to angry press conferences and bitter blogs, we can say, I told you so. I told you so, you ignorant twits. What were you thinking? You did this. You did this without thinking, with a deer-in-headlights expression on your bamboozled faces. Now we are stuck in this socialist hell experiment, and you still have your mortgage and your bad credit and your ugly girlfriend. Also that metal thing in your lip looks ridiculous.

2012. The Mayans thought it would be the end of one age, and the beginning of another. Maybe they knew something.

I’m always disgusted when I see teenagers wearing a Che t-shirt or sweatshirt. They have no idea that Che was the master executioner for Castro, personally sending thousands to their deaths. He was a thug and a murderer.

Thank you, thank you for making me laugh - I did not think that would happen today. My gosh - you are spot on!

There’s the problem right there. If freedom has died in the hearts and minds of the majority of Americans, then “building a new conservative movement” becomes a pipe-dream. You have to start with re-education and re-instilling proper values. This was a “sea change” and the left — probably in its more extreme socialist variety — will be in control for a generation.

Our focus should be on self-preservation. If we can help found a fledgling movement, fine. But we have to survive the coming wave of socialism first.

Maybe, but not many will hear them. The 'Rats and Obarfbag are already talking about The Fairness Doctrine in their first 100 days. And they'll get it, too.

Of course, it will only apply to countering conservative talk. The mainstream media will continue to push liberal agitprop and there will be no opportunity for rebuttal because, well, silly thing, there is no rebuttal to things everyone agrees with (by decree).

I agree and I would love to see of those teenagers/college kids wear the Che t-shirt around a bunch of Miami Cubans.........

You have it by half. It really is true that your description of the Obama mentality as “what you gonna give me” will lead to massive disappointment.

Many of the people following Obama are similar to panhandlers.

That makes Obama Panhandler-in-Chief.

The other half though is to describe how you think Obama will react to the reality that his panhandler followers will be disappointed. He is clever enough to know how to change the subject, to deflect blame and to delay judgement on himself.

What do you think are some ways he will react?

Can someone explain how the Fairness Doctrine will become law. What I mean is, does it only require the majority (3-2 vote) of the FCC, or does it need to pass Congress & the Senate?

If it’s the former, we’re totally screwed. It could become law on day 1. If it’s the latter, we can stop it with a Senate filibuster (we may end up with 44 senators).

I think that you should be prepared for the Republicans in congress to hunker down for the 1st 6 months or so. Yes, some R's will howl at Obama's initiatives, but the R leadership is going to save its powder until the Dem fault lines become apparent. Then they will engage.

For the next four years, everything will still be “Bush’s Fault”. They are masters at that & we will have to be very clever to overcome that - it’s been our glaring weakness for the last 8 years & the reason we lost last night. Time for a change in tactics!
