I got a kick out of the article commenting that if McCain had more money, he, too could run a commercial. The article completely misses the point that the networks would charge him much more (from a previous FR post), since they sold 0bama their “unused” minutes....

Law requires that all political advertisers pay the same rates.

Remember Nielsen is in the tank for Obama so who knows if the ratings will be correct. I believe O’Reilly had this on his show.

Obama will make so many promises he will be widely seen as just another lying politician.

I agree with you, however on the post from a few days back, the networks calimed they could no longer offer those rates to McCain....this is sooooo wrong in so many ways....

Doesn't this push back the start of the world series?

I'm upset about that.

Smart politics. And dumb for McCain not to counter, even if just with a “The Real Obama” series of video and audio clips shpwing his dangerous connections to Islamic extremists and lies about tax cuts.

What is Obama going to tell Americans that two months of flooding the airwaves with non-stop commercials hasn't done? He's slipping and sliding in the polls despite being given tons of coverage, both paid and free in the media. Overexposure is not going to halt the political shorting out he's been experiencing the past two weeks. With the race tightening, it looks more like a desperation move than smart politics. If you're really ahead, you don't need to do it.

IF it were McCain ‘buying’ time then the leftist ‘Fairness’ Doctrine would come into play.... and these servants of Bama would collective give him ‘air’ time.

YES! YES! YES! It worked so good for Ross Perot.

Oh wait, he didn't win either.

I think you are correct, and I truly hope the McCain Campaign points out Obamao was playing “pretend President” as he gave a speech to the nation as a President typically does.

This man is a ego maniac, bordering on a sociopath.

A cardianl rule in sales is knowing to SHUTUP, once the deal is basically done. The more you talk after that, the greater the risk you will screw something up.

Exactly. I cannot imagine that he has anything to say that will keep an undecided voter engaged for 30 minutes.

He risks several things; 1) overexposure (if that hasn't already happened), 2) seeming like the incumbent (throw the bums out), and 3) a gaffe.

Do we know if the address has been recorded or is he going live?

...And with the Series having been delayed, this infomerical will REALLY get fans of the two teams who had to wait a few nights to see this series resumed angry by a futher delay.

i think this is a bad idea — I think Obama is just on the verge of annoying the living beejesus out of most Americans.

The man sure do “Talk Pretty All Day” — but does he know when to “shut the heck up?”

Does anyone think he will actually say one new thing?

He is already responsible for delaying the start of the World Series for g-ds sake. Does the man hate EVERYTHING about America? Bet he doesn’t even like apple-pie — damn sure he’s never owned a Chevy.

If McCain /Palin do anything at all — it should be a live 30 second spot broadcast IMMEDIATELY AFTER OBAMA on FOX.. The ad should feature the McCain and Palin families and sitting in a living room waiting for the ballgame to start... dressed in casual clothing...:

John McCain: “Just wanted to take a moment to send a special message to our troops on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan — many of whom including my son and Sarah’s son — are listening to this broadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Networks. We are thankful for your service, we are so very, very proud of you, and we miss you.”

Sarah Palin: “So let’s put politics aside for a night and enjoy one of the many great pleasures of being an American — watching a ballgame!... (as an aside to CM) Hey Cindy, thanks for bringing the beer?”

Just in time to go up against the finish of game 5 in the World’s Series. Nice timing for baseball fans.

He’s the guy who claims he cares for the “little people” who have no voice in government and his campaign is spending a billion dollars to get him elected. People don’t spend that kind of money without expecting a payoff but Obama won’t divulge more than a small proportion of information on who is financing him. His extravagence alone should be a turnoff to a lot of undecideds.

Wow, 30 whole minutes. DON’T WATCH...he’ll hypnotize you! He’ll plant subliminal messages...like being suddenly struck with an over-powering urge to buy an orange T-shirt and move to Kenya. I sure hope McCain sandwiches that baby with some good stuff...something loud, yet tasteful. Spirited, yet well-bred.
