I love my 870 loaded with 00. Kicks like the Dickens, but it sure takes care of business.
My dealer recommended #4. I hope to try it out this weekend.
It is a great weapon. You cant beat it for self defense, especially in a crowded area.
The 00 buckshot hits the hardest, but 4 is more than adequate for self defense. I like it because there is less recoil and more pellets. You cant go wrong with either. Anything coming out of that weapon will probably do the job, but 4 is the lightest I would use.
That is 4 buckshot.
Thanks for the info. I’ll be out looking for either tomorrow. More info is always a good thing! Thanks again!
Thank You all! Funny you mentioned the youth model singfreedom. There is a youth for 110 bucks at Dicks this week. (Is that a good price double barrell Rossi 90 bucks after rebate) I have two boys........
The only problem with a double barrel is you only have 2 shots before you have to reload. A “pump” shotgun that holds 3 or 4 rounds would be much better. If you wanted to use the double barrel as a second weapon that would be O.K., but it would be better if you had more chances to hit something before you had to reload.
Look for a Mossberg 20 gage. I think you can even find Mossberg at some Walmarts! It'll probably be around $250, but it will give you more stopping power for your money. If your boys are old enough and responsible enough, it might not be a bad thing for them to learn to use it too.
That's what I got.
