At the time Obama was born, Kenya was a British colony. I believe most of the records were taken to the UK when the British left. But I don’t know if that would include Kenyan birth records, although I’ve seen it said that it would.
Probably no record was kept for a lot of African births, but Obama senior was a prominent man, chosen to receive a scholarship to Harvard, and most likely records would have been filed and kept.
“well, whats the verdict?.....does this thing have any legs or is it just something to get our hopes up?”
While I personally hope it grows a set of legs, I don’t think it passes the sniff test:
1. It would have “leaked” by now if there wasn’t a birth certificate in the state of Hawaii’s possession.
2. Apparently there is a published birth record in the local newspaper.
3. This idea of someone who has just given birth hopping on a plane a day or two later to fly all the way across the world to register the birth just doesn’t make a lot of sense. Possible? Yes. Likely? In my view, no.
4. Passports and border entry requirements are not a new thing. I find it strange to think that someone coming back from a foreign country on an international flight with an obviously newborn child would not have to provide some documentation of citizenship. Also, the norm for women at that time was to spend significant time in the hospital after birth of a child. I would think that the newborn, combined with the lack of documentation would have raised some eyebrows at the port of entry.
the messiah was not born, he was made out of primordial slime like his pagans supporters view of the beginning of life!
See the following link for photo of birth announcement. Did not say where O was born.

Since early voting has begun and he isn’t providing anything this will not help him to wait any longer. It will cast more doubt and less credibility every day this lingers. He will be losing votes from here in.
Yes and he had to prove his citizenship and eligibility.
Hence the double-standard. Yes McCain was born in Panama, but while his father was active duty. There was a vetting process that clarified that McCain was fully eligible to become President. The DNC and Barry himself are spending time and money to NOT prove he is eligible. Why, unless there is something to hide. Recently it was stated that to reveal his "real" COLB might be "embarrassing to the candidate". What the heck does THAT mean?
This is the second time (sorry, new to this whole idea) that there was a vetting process. Can you elaborate so that I can become more informed? Thanks in advance.
Thanks, I’ll do a better search!
It is dated August 13 for a birth on August 4. I still doubt that this would be called in from Kenya, and that they would have flown back by August 11 in time to get the ad in. Maybe they called Grandma (who I think still lived in Washington) and she called it in, but I think it more likely that they lived in Hawaii. It was summer, though, so, as I said before, who knows? The thing is, he oughta produce the dang thing.
Thanks for the link.
Legislation Introduced - by Democrats - to Declare McCain a U.S. Citizen April 10, 2008 7:21 PM
"With questions - however serious - about whether Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is eligible to run for president since he was born outside U.S. borders on an American Naval base, Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. today introduced a non-binding resolution expressing the sense of the U.S. Senate that McCain qualifies as a "natural born Citizen," as specified in the Constitution and eligible for the highest office in the land.
Co-sponsors include Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Barack Obama, D-Illinois; Leahy said he anticipates it will pass unanimously.
Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution says to be eligible for the presidency a candidate must have reached the age of 35 years old, resided in the U.S. for 14 years; and must be a natural born Citizen of the United States.
The Constitution, however, does not define "natural born Citizen." McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone to parents who were U.S. citizens, but some scholars have questioned if that suffices.
Earlier this month, Leahy asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff his views on the matter during a Judiciary Committee hearing.
"My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen," Chertoff said.
Leahy concurred.
The resolution introduced today states: "Resolved, That John Sidney McCain, III, is a 'natural born Citizen under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States."
"It is silly for anyone to argue that Senator McCain is not eligible to become president," said McCaskill in a written statement. "I would hope that this is something we can all agree on, for goodness sakes."
Since 1964, two other Republican presidential candidates, born outside U.S. borders, dealt with this question.
Sen. Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz., was born in a U.S territory that later became the State of Arizona. Former Michigan Gov. George Romney was born in Mexico to parents born in the U.S."
See post 125. Ask and FR provides.
I knew Mitt was an illegal!!
That’s exactly it Defiant, why not just produce the the dang thing! You hit the nail on the head because wouldn’t it be cheaper to pay a few bucks, get a birth certificate and carry on with your campaign? That and his trip to Hawaii is what finally pushed me over the edge and made me take another look at this.
First hit on google revealed this, although I’m still dang skeptical. This is a PUMA site. Even if true, why the hush-hush on obama’s part? Where there’s smoke.......

oops, posted previously and I missed it. My apologies folks!
Very cool. Thank you.
Now onto other matters. Can fellow freepers help to determine when Mr. Onaka graduated? From what I can see, it would be difficult at best to certify a birth certificate from 1961 if he was still in school?
Involvement in international activities is not new for Onaka. Before returning home in 1981 he worked for the U.S. National Academy of Sciences as a Research Associate in the Department of Epidemiology and Statistics at the Radiation Effects Research Foundation in Hiroshima, Japan for two years. Between 1974 and 1978 he worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C. from where he traveled to over 60 countries working on population and health projects mostly in the less developed countries of Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.
Onaka is a graduate of Iolani School and received a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as a Population Council Fellow in Demography. He has done postgraduate work in Epidemiology at the University of Minnesota. Nationally, he is an adviser to the National Death Index and chaired the U.S. Standard Death Certificate Revision Committee for the National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Locally, he has been on the affiliate graduate faculty of the Population Studies Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa since 1982. He also serves on the Health Science Advisory Committee of the Hawaii Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Keep opening sites SoCal, they all have the same birth announcement. We’d all like to know why the hush-hush on O’s part...with regard to this and his school records, and his health records and on and on.... I had to provide more info on my daughter to get her on a softball team than this man has had to provide to be POTUS!
