They used to give packs of Kools, Salems and forties in a brownbag for Republican signs...
That's what I was thinking. These McCain signs can't cost too much and maybe you could bankrupt this guy if enough people brought them in say 10 at a time.
Our McCain sign has been getting vandalized nearly every day or night the past 3 weeks. I have two signs that I change back and forth. The one on the lawn now is bent up and held on the wire with tape. Kind of symbolic, in a way. Keeps plugging on regardless of how many hits it takes. My son found the sign one day a block away. Other McCain signs have been vandalized as well.
Get this,, one of my 15 year old’s sons friends, a black kid,,, a nice kid that we have all been nice to,,,, he admitted to ripping the sign out and bending it up and leaving it on the lawn. He said he did it only one time one night. I was blown away. He apologized to my son. Here’s this kid we have known for a couple years,, taken him places with us, to our church, ate together,, just like he was one of the family and he’s vandalizing my property. He told my son that his family really does not like white people,, though they like us,, they don’t like most white people. He didn’t really give much more of an explanation than that.
So, at some point,, that was enough to drive him over to our property in the middle of the night and pull out our sign, bend up the wire and rip the plastic, and just walk away. Amazing. We live in a normal middle classs neighborhood. isn’t like we’re surrounded by gangs and this was something he had to do to prove himself.
That’s a sad story and I’m sorry. I can only imagine the multiple feelings this gives you.
If you can influence this kid in a positive way then that would be one of the best things someone could do for him.
But make sure it doesn’t turn around on you. I’d hate to have his faulty upbringing have an influence on your son, and I’d hate to have this kid continue to be friends with your son and spend time with your family and have him do you or your household wrong in some way.
Keep a close eye on him but see if you can guide him in the right direction before it’s too late for him. I hope he felt truly bad for what he did to your sign.
I don’t know, your story just hit me for some reason.
McCains office should stand outside and hand signs to all in going customers. Go door to door in the Hood handing out signs and ,charter a bus offering free rides to the free pizza.
We have had our signs stolen every time we put one out that’s a conservative candidate. This year, we haven’t had a problem, but we’re leaving the porch light on at night and I think it helps.
