The media knows what the point is. They are trying to divert attention away from it. Problem is (for the MSM and Obama), a majority of voters also know what Obama said and meant.
An “Editorial staff” with some brains!!! Finally! It was not Joe the Plumber! It was OSAMA said to him!
The media’s MO was to attack the perceived “messenger” and discredit him. It served to distract people from the real issue at hand (Obama’s outright admission of Marxist redistribution schemes) and also to serve as “warning” for the same sort of anal exam and front page exposure you and your life could face if you dare make Obama or the other Democrats look badly.
They know how such interference cost Dan Rather his job and credibility. They will fight with tooth and nail to take down anyone who could get in their way.
Joe The Plumber...
a) revealed Obama’s Socialist agenda
b) revealed Obama’s contempt for those he claims to champion.
c) revealed Obama’s disdain for the American Dream and his plan to thwart it.
d) Exposed Obama’s ruthless thuggishness.

I thought Joe did a fine job on Hannity’s radio show and on H&C on TV tonight. The guy’s got a bit of “the natural” in him, yet he speaks like (and for) the common man. With a little polish, maybe he could be the next Sean Hannity?
Heck, according to Rasmussen, he’s already got a 58% approval rating! How about Joe the Congressman? He’s damn sure been vetted more than Obama has!
I agree that it is nicely boiled down.
However, I am cynical enough to believe that the media did not miss the point; they are just desperately trying to distract us from the point. They don’t want us to look at or discuss the point - they want us to discuss Joe’s tax status, divorce, liscense status etc. literally anything else - even how they are destroying Joe - just so Obama can shove his unintentional candor down the memory hole.
I wonder how many people are ‘comfortably’ gossiping about Joe instead of discussing what the presidential candidate actually said?
The media is not missing the point. The word “miss” implies an accident. It is no accident that the leftest media does not want us to know that Obama is the socialist tool of Alinsky, Ayers and Chavez.

The media has carried a liberal bias for as long as I’ve been alive, and I suppose I’ve just mentally accepted it. But this election cycle, with the all-out attempt to destroy average, innocent folks (Palin’s teenage daughter, Joe the plumber), has revealed not just the media’s blatant advocacy of the Dems, but their innate vileness. They are evil maggots. I’ll never remotely trust anything I hear from them again, even on the most minor, innocuous news stories.
