Ping!
SIGH... all that table sugar I pour into my coffee every morning...
PING
I’ve discovered that we shouldn’t ever use Equal or Nutrasweet - it’s worse than sugar. Splenda seems to be ok.
Sugar isn't the problem - it's the HFCS (cheaper that cane sugar) in all of the sodas and pre-packaged foods that has made us a nation of walruses.
recently the high fructose co’s have run expensive, full page ads in the nyt
denying that hfcs is a health hazard.
they say it is “natural” and made from sugar.
but, if it’s “natural” , why then was it synthesized in a lab in the u.s in the 1950s and the work finished in a lab in japan in the late 1960s?
it was first introduced into “health food” stores in the 1970s.
and later into the mass market, where now it’s in everything.
hfcs permeates cell membranes faster than sugar.
Whatever makes you fat is bad for leptin’s ability to keep your weight down. The fatter you get the less leptin works.
Also found in it:
High
Corn
Syrup
This isn’t news.....the information has been around for years. Beware of pre-packaged low fat foods as well.
“SIGH... all that table sugar I pour into my coffee every morning...”
That’s sucrose, not fructose
Funny, about 10 months ago, I read a lot of research on HFCS, and after reading it, I cut HFCS from my diet along with some other adjustments and the weight I've been trying to lose started to fall off. I've got two dress sizes to go, but no way am I putting HFCS back in my diet. The corn producers would say it was the other adjustments, but I don't think so. The calorie count isn't all that different.
I dont buy ANY product that has high fructose corn syrup in it...
And its amazing how that has led me to much healthier foods...
The cheap, processed foods all have it. Bread, ketchup, almost all syrup, cokes, pepsi, dr pepper, etc...
I don’t use it, either, and it is in EVERYTHING at the store. People laugh at me, but that’s ok. I sometimes drink pop with cane sugar (not often), and I have found that I naturally stop myself from drinking too much when I have it. It’s like the body gets the stop signals from sugar better than from HFCS.
Trader Joe’s carries some corn syrup products but generally carry much less than the regular stores.
yours is my experience.
hfcs is in ketchup served at mcdonald’s—no wonder kids are fat.
but recently there have been frequent full page ads in the nyt with a picture of a bagel and cream cheese being applied by the hfcs co’s
saying that it’s a “smear job” blaming hfcs.
Whole Foods has great products - no HFCS either....
And their bakery bread is the best...
Rustic Italian - YUMMO!!!
Make mine splenda.
I like their products, too, even if Barry Sotero shops there. Unfortunately, the closest one if a 45 minute drive away (on a good day!)
Barry Sotero...
what a name...
Well, dont let that stop you from seeking out great food.
Thats funny...
