Why would someone who knew he was prone to be called up make a legal commitment to maintain his yard, if he was unable to do so when away for months at a time?
I’m sorry, but even our honored troops need to keep their promises to their neighbors.

It sounds like Mr. Edwards needs a visit from a few veterans.

Perhaps someone can come up with a mailing address for this A+6 and we can send him post cards.

Why would someone who knew he was prone to be called up make a legal commitment to maintain his yard, if he was unable to do so when away for months at a time? If you had bothered to RTFA, you would have read that the contractor he hired to put the yard in skipped out with the money before finishing the job. It's also possible that the Servicemen's Relief Act stays legal action during his deployment.

"I really don't give a [expletive] where he is or what his problem is," said Chick Edwards, owner and developer of the 47-lot subdivision at the south end of Oak Street in Kennewick. Like any good master, Chuck knows that the serfs really need to be put in their place every now and then.

You didn't read the article, did you?
Jensen's attorney, Tony DeAlicante of Redmond, Ore., said Jensen had paid a landscaper thousands of dollars to design and install an irrigation system and hydroseed the large lot this summer.
But DeAlicante said it appears the landscaper may have abandoned the job with the irrigation system only partially completed and no seeding done
So now he's out of the country serving, getting ripped off by a landscaping company and reamed by the developer who is the sole member of the HOA. What a country!

From reading the article it sounds like a landscaper was paid to do the work and didn’t follow through.
My home is my kingdom. HOA’s are for suckers.
I feel sorry for Mr. Jansen but he’s just another statistic of HOA horror stories.

It would be funny otherwise . . . the guy’s neighbor doesn’t care, but the developer has his panties in a wad.

Wow, I'm surprised you waited to get evicted to finally leave.
HOAs were created with noble intentions to protect property values. Now they're just a vehicle for controlling people.

"I really don't give a [expletive] where he is or what his problem is," said Chick Edwards, owner and developer of the 47-lot subdivision at the south end of Oak Street in Kennewick. A true patriot and a humanitarian, to boot
"[Jensen] doesn't have the right to walk away from his obligation," said Edwards, who as the developer is the only member of the homeowners association. "I have most of the property still, so I am the homeowners association," he said.
What a petty f-ing tyrant. This loser should do the world a favor and DIAF.
So glad I got into a home with no HOA.

It is very difficult to find new sub-divisions without extremely restrictive HOA’s , an acronym that can be defined is several ways. They are generally run by anal-retentive types who fancy themselves the pinnacle of style and taste but are frequently just too stupid to see others’ problems.
