" The CNN poll of polls is an average of the new CNN poll and other new state polls."

It's a gumbo poll of unknown polls! Worthless!

OH SHUT UP. We couldn’t even get a Conservative as our nominee.

well then, you are an idiot. You don’t gain anything by losing...never...And if you think for one second that Sarah Palin would win, you are sadly mistaken. Don’t confuse “The Base” for the majority in America. If the majority in America were truly Conservatives, McCain would be ahead...no conservative would risk an Obama Presidency and all that goes with it...Supreme court nominees, the war on terror, etc. We are losing...and we probably will lose because we don’t know how to play the same game they do. They have no morals...they have no shame...all they have is the desire to win...

He is gaining and its partly McCain’s fault. McCain is playing timid politics. This is the big leagues and the race is tight. You can’t just stay on defense unless you happen to be way ahead. You have to take it to the other side and McCain just isn’t doing that.

“What is killing McCain is his support of the highly unpopular bailout of financial institutions. By being a supporter of this plan, which is attempting to correct a mess that occurred in the eighth year of a Republican administration while GOP appointees were at the helms of the Treasury, the Fed, and the SEC, he has more than wiped out the enthusiasm his choice of Sarah Palin generated. If the bailout passes and the markets stabilize, then there is enough time for much of the voting public to forget about the mess. If the battle drags on, it will pull McCain down further. “

It is unpopular among conservatives, moderates, and liberals. If McCain fought hard against it he’d gain several points in the polls and would be sitting pretty.

Well there is one fly in the ointment for all you conspiracy chicken little types sure that we that are going become Nazi Germany all over again. That one fly..Consumerism! Americans love their stuff and no mirage of safety or security can overpower our national urge to spend and own STUFF. Obama might become president, I think it's unlikely but if he does and goes full on Chairman Mao the American people will get horrid buyers remorse. Government jobs and their salaries do not allow people to buy 50k Escalades , vacations to Disney World or putting in that swimming pool. So if the canard is that Obama will crush all free enterprise and replace it with bureaucratic jobs paying the minimum is just being silly. Your retarded neighbor with that Obama sign will learn this the hard way and flip quicker than Johnny the Bull Gravano. I am not saying an Obama presidency is a good thing, but I am not of the opinion that a skinny mulatto with NPD will mean the end of the republic. I mean for a fascist state to thrive you need grassroots folks to actually want to pick up the gun and hold it to your head. It takes that kind of commitment and most Obomites are too busy with American Idol, Jenna Jameson and what tattoo to get to get all SS on us.

“The interesting thing is that it looks like all the minor candidates mostly attract votes away from McCain.”

On polling websites they’ve been talking about that phenomenon for months. They call it the Obama-Nobama choice. McCain gains a point or so when voters are offered only two choices, but he loses that point or two when they’re offered third parties. IOW, some people who’ve decided they will not vote for Obama under any circumstances say McCain if offered no other choice, but they don’t really intend to vote for McCain, they’re just dead set against Obama.

My guess is some of them are lifelong Democrat racists. Can’t quite bring themselves to vote Pubbie, but they’re sure not voting for the black guy, either. That’s the only way to explain McCain losing votes to Nader.

You can't win against the democRATs by playing their game....there's a saying "If you wrestle with a pig, the only thing that happens is you get full of sh** and the pig loves it!"

How do you know Palin can't win on her own? Conservatism wins every time it runs....that's why Clinton was elected the first time, he cloaked himself in conservatism because he new the message sold. That's why Reagan won by a landslide. The conservative message is touted by every politician, including Obama (just this afternoon he had a commercial heralding tax cuts)...politicians know it gets them elected.
