Gawd, McCain needs to stop being a Senator if he wants to win.

This is one of the most astute sentences I've seen posted here in a long time.

You know what I think about McCain, rabs. Hence, my tagline.

And you are being fair. I can ask no more of you than that.

Good luck in your decision. I know you will give it much thought.

I received the messages also, sent him a little piece of my mind. A rose is a rose, a BAILOUT by any other name is still a BAILOUT. Vote no

Better yet, give all the TAXPAYES ONLY $2 million each and see how fast this mess gets cleaned up. I will buy some of those foreclosed homes. Oh, my bad, not supposed to call them FORCLOSED homes anymore, may hurt the FORECLOSEE's feelings.

debtism

Your term, debtism, seems to fits our government's, if not society's, present philosophy.

Guys - in many businesses where your APs range from 30-90 days (especially for small businesses) then an LOC is a lifesaver - it’s a bridge that helps one in tight times and then you pay it down or off - but in times like these, banks are shutting them off. If you own a small business and employ people then I am assuming you would know this. So not trying to get in a pissin match but in times of economic slowdown, APs are paid slower and a lot times you need to borrow. Even when times are good and you want to expand or market sometimes you spend money to make money. Smart debt and accessible debt - is a part of the free market

And the alternative is???

I don't agree on McCain's response to this situation, but we don't have to agree on everything with a candidate. I think, eventually he will get tough and I am encouraging him to do so.

However, I certainly do not agree with anything/all that Obama stands for and spews forth, and that is exactly why I want McCain and his staff to go after them and use the big stick. Talking lightly has not worked with the street-gang tactics crowd or their bullying big brother. If he gets in, your opportunity to voice your opinion against anything done by his administration or his cronies will be nonexistent.

Better give your vote some real consideration, my friend, or you will be raising your right hand being forced to say "Heil 'Bama!" underneath the flag bearing his symbol. While our rights to free speech, freedom to bear arms, and even freedom to pray "Hail Mary," will be stripped from us.

McCain does not get it.

Obama is voting present to protect his “viability”

has anyone seen mccain’s crowds on TV?

he has none based on msm video.

Obama has full crowds, mccain has no crowds.

“I am not convinced that we are in the greatest financial crisis of our lifetimes. Why would he say that? “
the Treasury Secty and Fed chairman have said so. The media has declared so.

Consider ... McCain saiys this ... “You know that there’s been tremendous turmoil in our financial markets and Wall St. And it is—people are frightened by these events. Our economy, I think still—the fundamentals of our economy are strong. But these are very, very difficult times.” - John Mccain, September 15, 2008 ... AND HE IS CRITICIZED BY OBAMA (UNFAIRLY) FOR SAYING EVERYTHING IS OKAY!

If McCain says the ‘fundamentals are strong’ in the economy, he’s out of touch according to Obama and media, who are bound and determined to make this out to be the biggest crisis since the great depression. Its hyperbole, but we have a media hellbent on hyperbole and a Republican who fights it is smeared as out of touch.

So McCain must acknowledge the seriousness of the economic situation (ie we likely will slip into recession).

Great Depression 2.0? That scenario is indeed possible ... If Obama is elected. Obama remains the greatest threat to our freedom, our prosperity, and our values.

The MSM will OF COURSE make you feel bad about mcCain. Depressed to the point of not wanting to support him, right? .... WELL, THE FIX IS IN:

http://travismonitor.blogspot.com/2008/09/obamedia-insider-fix-is-in.html

“Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.” I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

“If this is such a good business why does he not go to the capital markets and raise equity capital for expansion.”

GE capital *IS* the capital markets. I guess your question is debt v equity.

Well, debt is tax-advantaged and stock is punished. As for why not do IPO, and why so much private equity in the past 5 years like this company? Two words: SARBANES OXLEY.

Newt is right on that one.

“But I am voting for McCain to give Sarah a shot at the White House in the future. I humbly ask you to do so as well.”

WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER THE BIGGER PICTURE:
1. ANNOY THE MEDIA AND DESTROYTHE LEFT
2. SCOTUS
3. WIN THE WAR ON TERROR
4. It’s the SPENDING stupid. Obama’s $800 billion in promises vs McCain’s promise to freeze spending.
5. Tax cuts vs tax hikes.
6. Obama in the White House and Pelosi as speaker is a BLANK CHECK FOR THE DEMOCRATS IN DC.

I think you may have replied to my #21 intending your remarks to someone else. Please read my post at 21. I don’t think I have ever accused anyone of casting their vote for whom the see fit to in any way be helping any of the other candidates. Also check out my profile and you will find a quote by John Quincy Adams that reflects my feelings on every individuals votes, cast in principle.

Can you post that plan/solution proposed by the House Republicans? I'd like to see it point by point.

I called Roy Blunts office and suggested a zero cap gains tax on the sale of these securities...have they adopted anything like that?

There is this document (pdf) from the Republican Study Committee.

This is what I wrote back to him (not that he’ll read it, but it made me feel better). I had to tone down a bit what I really think:

It’s the traitors on the left that are the problem. They have undermined President Bush on everything—they’ve turned him into a bowl of jello. President Bush went to Washington 8 years ago talking about a new tone. You see how far that got him. They have called him everything under the sun including Hitler, murderer, and a racist. They don’t want to drill for the good of the country. They don’t want to succeed in Iraq for the good of our country. They want the economy to fail. All they care about is power. We are not fooled out here in fly over country. We’ve seen and heard too much with our own eyes and ears. Please, for goodness sake, don’t blame this on the Republicans in the House.

"After a tense, closed-door meeting last week between the Treasury Secretary and Congressional leaders it was announced that the US economy is on the verge of utter chaos and total collapse, and if $700 Billion(!!!) isn't immediately dumped into a bailout (with no hearings or real debate, and don't ask too many questions), the nation will suffer a complete financial meltdown the likes of which has never been seen in the history of the universe, oh my God in heaven!" (/wide-eyed breathless gasp)

Honestly, how stupid do you have to be to fall for this crap?
I guess we'll find out tomorrow night (actually, tonight).

Sorry, my post was not directed at you, I just ckicked on a post and posted.

I am mad as hell about this bailout when there are free market options.

IMHO at this point the O will take us to socialism at 100 MPH, McCain 90 MPH.

If McCain weren't such an unstable element I would agree with you. But, his history reveals a man inconstant in purpose for all things except advancing his egoistic pursuit of power. And, we've been living on hope for too long, expecting whichever RINO we elect to "come round," something that we should know based on his history ain't gonna happen with McCain.

With Obambi, the danger is clear and out in the open. With McCain we've got the enemy masquerading as our friend waiting to shiv us in the ribs at the first opportunity, in short, the perfect Trojan Elephant.

If he is elected the best we can hope for is that he serves as POTUS for an infinitesimally short time before Gov. Palin succeeds him
