There’s a storage facility in Nevada that’s been delayed (guess by whom?) for over 30 years, so the spent rods wind up stored in or near the plants themselves. Reprocessing isn’t necessarily a good idea, it sez here, because we don’t have any real use for the reprocessed byproducts, and those would be potentially useful to the terrorists worldwide.
